Pretty good cover, IMO. Mind you, I could never stand Neil Young's voice, for all that I seriously respect him as a musician and songwriter.

i love how "purists" get all high and mighty when they talk about sampling. plagiarism is not cool. (see isley brothers vs. michael bolton, vanilla ice vs. david bowie and queen, etc.) this is not plagiarism, it is sampling. sampling, to me, is no different than a sculptor using found objects. clearly, he has the permission of neil young to do this.

I don't know..."real artists" have been covering each others work for years. I look at this more as more of a cover than a sampling.

Got to give 'em credit for a nice job of sampling Young. I dig the beat, lyrics, and moving visuals for the video. It's a song that actually says something meaningful about life and the impact of our fathers, which is what Young was doing in the original. Way to go...

Found this on youtube and played it for my teenage sons who thought it was good, in part due to the motorhead-oriented lyrics (which is big in my household). They are no longer surprised when I bring home some pretty "cool" stuff for them to listen to. Thanks RP!

I can't believe this song got such a meager rating. I've been listening to it every day, and telling all my friends about it. Fantastic!!! There is a clip of him on youtube, and he described how he contacted Neil Young's manager, label, agent, and got nowhere, and then somehow he got Neil himself to hear it, and Neil gave him the go-ahead to record it. Check it out.
Leave Neil's voice out of it and I might have given it a 2. I'm surprised as hell that Neil would even allow somebody to sample his stuff. Pretty classic that he did though. When he does, he does it all the way.

Heard this recently on one of the rare occasions that I listen to commercial radio. I don't mind it at all. I also didn't mind the Kid Rock Sweet Home Alabama/Werewolves of London thing from a year or two ago. Might be a good addition to this little set.
