From where you are
You see the smoke start to arise
Where they play cards

And you walk over
Softly moving passed the guards
The stakes are getting higher
You can feel it in your heart

He calls you bluff
He is the ace you never thought
He played that much
And now it's more than all this cards
You want to touch
You never know if winning this
Could really be enough

Take a look
Beyond the moon
You see the stars.
And when you look around
You know the room by heart

I have never dreamed it
Have you ever dreamed a night like this
I cannot believe it
I may never see a night like this

When everything you think is incomplete
Starts happening when you are cheek to cheek
Could you ever dream it
I have never dreamed, dreamed a night like this

How many times
Have I been waiting by the door
To hear these chimes
To hear that someone debonaire has just a arrived
And opened up to see
My world before my eyes
That silhouette creates an image
On the night I can't forget

It has the scent of something special
I can't rest
If I resist temptation
Oh, I know for sure that I will lose the bet

I walk away and suddenly it seems
I'm not alone
In front of me he stands
I stop, before he goes

I have never dreamed it
Have you ever dreamed a night like this
I cannot believe it
I may never see a night like this
When everything you think is incomplete
Starts happening when you are cheek to cheek

Could you ever dream it
I have never dreamed, dreamed a night like this

I have never dreamed it
Have you ever dreamed a night like this
I cannot believe it
I may never see a night like this

When everything you think is incomplete
Starts happening when you are cheek to cheek
Could you ever dream it
I have never dreamed, dreamed a night like this

1953? The beautiful woman by your side is your mother?
Love this!
it might not be a masterpiece but it is one of those tunes that can change a mood, which is the whole point of pop music, imho

Seconded! I too, really like her voice! And, this particular song, it kinda feels like a tune that would've been played in another era! And, she carries it beautifully! Thnx  Bill & Rebecca!
This is SO what I wouldn't listen to...

But I'm chair dancing here

You mess with my mind RP!!! Thank you

I like it! I never heard of her before. Thanx RP!
She reminds me of the late great Kirsty MacColl. Like this a lot.

Not to mention boring.  Or the always-amusing "dribble".
Nice! I realise this is silly, but I wish She and Richard Cheese did a duet ☺

Wonderful song. So well crafted.  I am trying to write a proposal but this has me dancing around the room
This always weirdly reminds me of the Italian Pink Panther movie song- Meglio Stasera. Worth watching just to see Inspector C dance...
Great rhythms, vocals, and overall musical composition.

Hmmm? Busje kompt Zo is your favorite Dutch song? The last time I heard that, there were four clogging ladies in Delft blue and white skirts gathered around a single microphone in a De Dutch Pannekoek House, which is far from Holland.
As always, I'm  impressed by the breadth of audience Bill intrigues.

Maybe it's time for you to upload a Dutch song that makes us all proud?

I can't stand most female singers' voices, but I love Caro's singing voice - wonderful.

Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour and Bing Crosby in still from "Road to Bali"

The boys and Dorothy Lamour in "Road to Bali"--silly but fun.
Like this time - where Rush followed this...
I always cringe wondering where a song like this will take Bill and his music programming. As usual he normally surprises me but going somewhere totally different. ( I hope so anyways.)
Our Caro does it again...
where's Sinatra when you need him

Don't know why that would categorically eliminate appreciation of a tune, but you're almost on target: the song was written to shill Martini brand vermouth in the Netherlands market. Kinda like the visual narrative style, myself:

Yes and no. The track was commissioned from the same songwriters, who then got fed up with the idea and wrote this song for Caro instead, which the vermouth company eventually decided they liked enough to use anyways.
I got this album for Mrs. Hencini a year or so ago after hearing a couple songs here on RP. Not especially strong stuff, but this is one of the better tracks.
{#Cheers}
Time for a Martini !

Since i discovered RP one song was playing in my head... and right now i just remembered it  :D
{#Arrowd}  Thank you, Businessgypsy!

I'm headed out in a few minutes for Martini & Rossi and a few lemons; can I get anybody something?

True that. She's got the kind of open-throat from-the-diaphragm style you rarely hear any longer.

Glad I somehow missed the saturation that others are complaining about - can enjoy her fresh.

I actually like the music much more than her voice.

Well, good for her! It's nice to hear a Dutch artist on an international radio station. We hear this particular song all the time in Holland, but it's a good start ;-). It's a shame people have to be so negative, even here where I imagine a lot of people who love a great variety of music 'come together'.

I support the creation of a new sub-genre: "swanky jazz". Who else is in there? Peggy Lee, Capitol era Frank, Melody Gardot, Madeleine Peyroux... who else?
I thought I had miss-tuned into "Crap West End Musical Excerpts for Lovies in the Business Dhharling.com

Simply ghastly. Adds variety though. And time to put kettle on ;-)
Aaaarrggghhh, she's the so-called Dutch superstar. One of the very few that seem to make it outside of the Dutch borders. Good for her, not for me. Horrible fake person who acts as being nice but in fact is very arrogant. And the last few years she headlined every medium large festival her in the Netherlands.

Sigh, i'm so tired of hearing and seeing this woman...
