I've been mad for fucking years, absolutely years,
Been over the edge for yonks,
Been working me buns off for bands
I've always been mad, I know I've been mad,
Like the most of us, very hard to explain why you're mad,
Even if you're not mad

--

Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave but don't leave me
Look around and choose your own ground
Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
Run, rabbit run
Dig that hole, forget the sun
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave

--

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away, across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell

"I've been mad for fucking years, absolutely years"
If the original was art, this is history... both are compelling.
Egad...

Bear in mind, I'm a major PF fan.  Had most of their discography (until it got stolen).

But listening to this shows why PF used so much visuals in their act.

Honestly, they're not much of a live band....

Production is so-so and the singing is awful (they seem not being able to hear themselves).

I'll also stick to the studio albums....
I actually prefer the studio version.
Just saw Roger Waters in concert...he did mostly Pink Floyd hits (from Meddle, Dark Side Of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall) with some really great visual effects and a couple live acting pieces.  I highly recommend it to any Pink Floyd fan out there.  Roger Water's concert is the closest you will ever get to a real Pink Floyd concert with one of the original members.

That was mindblowing. Thanks!

That was an excellent version, I too have never heard before.
Any live version rarely equals the studio original. This one does not.  The many intricacies of the studio are impossible to exactly reproduce, but I'm sure the mystique of the live experience was thrilling nonetheless. It's hard to step too hard on one of the greatest records ever made.

Ah, this is bringing  back great memories of my departed friend , Christos.  Both great!
An awesome soundtrack for the eclipse. Thanks Bill!

Someone's age has very little to do with their liking or disliking this tune.  Generally, when one writes "nuff said" in a statement, there should not have to be any more words following it.

Fitting and well deserved tribute and restitution. Far too often musicians blame the moneymen for screwing over the hired help. It shouldn't take lawyers for them to figure out how to do the right thing.
Wow....I  purchased the album in 1975, watched my high school kids in Phoenix, OR paint the side of the gym to an identical replica of the cover...and today this sure is sounding so, so good.   Thanks, RP.
Very cool that y'all're playing the Empire Pool performance of this!
here we go - turning the speakers up to 11
I gave a 12 to this. Given that the top rating is ten, I have 2 to spare... will give it to next song, that way I will be in peace.

this is a magical recording. Excellent sound and great performance.

It's a shame that Clare Torry had to sue, in order to get the credit she deserved on "Great Gig...".

I doubt she sued, she sang with Dave recently, I would imagine it was just a sence of fairplay on the part of the band < edit >whatever Wikipedia says!< /edit >.
why must the scale go only to 10?  so worthy of an 11 here.
f—-ing yummy...
Nooooooooo......
When the piece started I prepared for one hour of splendor. Only to have Bill's voice bring me down hard saying "we won't be hearing the whole piece today". Pity...
GOT TO LOVE ALL THINGS LIVE!!!! keep'm coming!!
Excellent choice Bill !!
had to skip it - twice!

If this were regular radio...I would assume that the DJ needed a diarrhea / cigarette break.

Completely agree with Ziakut. The music is nice, but once a year is enough. Can't you break it into pieces and just play a slice at a time?
There is no "Play something Different" that stands the lenght of this song. :-/
Love this!
Please more of them live!

8.9 means ??? This is not music and i can't wait for it to end.

Wow.  This is really trippy even on my S%*##y work computer speakers!

Old, worn out and never ending song.

Obviously, their gazillions of fans disagree.

Well yeah, but a big part of your argument is a result of the age of the song...a song that anyone who has ever listened to a rock radio station is familiar with. The result is that over time, what we heard as quite unique now feels quite familiar. Best thing to do is probably what they did and package a few versions of the old material up so we can get a sense of both the complexity and the difficulty of reproducing such truly amazing studio energy.

There are few things better than Pink Floyd Live! Goose Bumps everytime!

The more I listen to this box set, the more I like.  Must. Have. {#Jump}

Oh, it's speaking to me, and well, as I enjoy a big ol' salad bowl of Pre-'98 Bubba Kush, Planewreck, and Deep Space Full Melt...nothing like PF, RP, and Rocky Mountain Way!
Ticking away the moments that make up the dull day...
Just loving this!

Yes!!!!
And we're back.
Great set Mr. B....thank you!
Next best thing to seeing them live...well, almost.;-)
HAS to be THE LONGEST song RP plays...
And thats a GREAT thing... LOVE IT

Ok, we get it, you have no musical taste and like to shout it out, broadcast it indefinitely over the interwebs.  Type it out until your fingers bleed.  Instead, I would suggest saving your time and changing the station.

I just raised a lighter over my head this song is so good only to set the fire alarm off. Oh well, at least the battery's still good.
let's see, root canal, a visit to the Department of Motor Vehicles or listening to Pink Floyd's "classic" Money again? Think I'll take the root canal.
Ok, I have to get this box set!
This is like time travel.
heh, heh, hey man, it's the Giant Pig, COOL!!! ya gonna smoke that?
11.5
here we go, wake up stoners, the screeching Star Search Contestant is running vocal scales again.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzz........zzzzzzz
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pink Floyd, but this is really hard to listen to.
I'm going to need to turn this off and put in the studio recording.

...a little addendum...I saw the Wall concert back in 79-80? it was pure genius, flawless.
This dark Side doesn't even come CLOSE .
..........bored..................
Are you twelve? Shut up and enjoy. Or better yet, go play in your haunted house! thewiseking wrote:

where's the laser light show, man?
Wow.
This reminds me of stumbling on a bootleg in the old days, before the internet made things so accessible and hearing something that you and maybe a handful of others were lucky enough to know about (or so you thought).
Thank you!

Nice piece of music.

I sit here in Skælskør and enjoy life!
My little tube amp just loves this

Love this Live Immersion Box version. A refreshing change. Thanks Bill and Rebecca! Just now listening to "On the Run" being performed completely LIVE with the synthesizers of the time. Pink Floyd were true pioneers in this area.
YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Sure like Bill's taste in music, but I'm obviously not a huge Fink Ployd fan as this was literally the first time I used that PSD button.  Unfortunately for me the other song ended before this one so I got to hear a bit more of the screeching women.  Still love RP though.
Thank you Bill, and deepest Thank You to Pink, which ever one he is......for creating this Anthem to our souls.
Wow! I never heard this before. Awesome performance. Thanks for playing MUSIC.
Only you Bill, only you!
Thanks

Dirk
raced sailboats all day here in seattle.  a cool february day, overcast, showers, 15 - 22 knots, 40 deg F.  no better what to end the day than sitting by the fire listening to Pink Floyd live.

thank you Bill.
Simply in a class all by themselves!
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!

Nobody matches the original, unbeatable Clare Torry on the "The Great Gig In The Sky", but hair splitting aside,
THIS IS AMAZING!
Nobody does concerts like this anymore...probably never will!
I'm so sorry, but i truly hate those ladies screaming "wwoooooooohhhooohhh, waaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH haaaaaahhhaaaaaaaaaahooooowwwwwww"

Further more, i can not understand how this is a 9,1. An 8 i can understand, but a 9,1... No sorry, not for me...

Middle of a handover report-hands are resting now.. Thank you Bill!
I first heard this album in 1973 while tripping on magic mushrooms at a beach in North Queensland. Never eaten magic mushies since, but the album still does it for me.

One of those songs that really gets me, roots me to the spot, makes me remember every time I've ever heard it, inducing the current of Life to surge through me like some kind of Quantum Entanglement coming from the Core of Everything via my freaking speakers...

Mesmerizing
incessant lifeless droning with a Star Search contestant running vocal scales in the background. welcome to Pink Void.
new logo for the new year? keep it up RP, this is a nice treat since I doubt I will buy the set... not that I don't want it.
Thanks for playing such an extended track ! I thoroughly enjoyed it, seating comfortably in my sofa, almost falling asleep, and yet having all my attention to every single details of it. Long leave RP !
EPIC!

Yes hope you didn't miss ;-)
Did that just last 20 minutes?
Just took a temporary leave of absence from work.

Thanks.
Whoah— Nice long tune, Bill.  Thanks!
Just frickin' fantastic. What a way to head into the last hr at the desk on a Friday.
Thanks Bill

and radio stations wonder why their going down the tubes? Pretty simple, they don't do sets like Bill's
Just noticed all my hairs are standing on end... full body erection! 8^)
And some bands nowadays consider themselves them innovative? Think again.

This is the kind of radio which does what it has to do (as does a lot of the stuff here). Playing such an extended set really makes you want to go and buy the album, have it, hold it, cherish it. I am now thinking of investing in a turntable just to hear this.

The whinging  record companies really should just up. Radio works for them, whether Internet or not.

thank you just thank you

ITunes sorry
''All The Faithful To Their Knees''  Thankyou RP for airing this track ................
Ahhh.... it's like having your DNA tweaked or your favourite pair slippers resoled. It's so familiar, but... different. I love it.
I love these rare super-treats.  Because most of RP is always a treat.
Funny to see that on French AppStore clicking on " buy on app store" leads you to an " unfindable" answer .......
Isn't it cool to see how many people are tuned in and turned on all together at the same time!!!
reminds me of midnight 'perfect album sides' on FM radio in days gone by ... could be a regular feature
Nice set! Can't hear stuff put together like this on commercial radio.
Hat's off the guy behind the mike.
Foggy, cool and rainy today, love it, but this fits especially well this afternoon...as I fritter away my Friday afternoon, working...   {#Music}
