The Joffrey Ballet very effectively used Ane Brun's  "Do you Remember" a few years ago in the Winter "Contemporary Composers" program.  I was unfamiliar with Ms. Brun's work at the time but now that I hear it on RP, it brings as I recall a lovely evening out with my wife and an excellent Joffrey performance.

Amazing how art can be so differently interpreted. Some don't like it, but I love this song, can't hear it enough. Hear echoes of the 50s girl groups but it also sounds very 21st century. The lyrics are wonderful, about first love, but also about old heartache and falling out of love. Thanks, RP

You don't own these pages. If you find specific posts offensive, demeaning or excessively insulting, I urge you to take up the matter with Bill and Rebecca. If you think that calypsus_1 is spamming, you may have cause to complain under this RP Forum posting guideline:

"Discussion of actual pork products is permitted, spamming the forums is not. It's OK to mention products or services - including other radio stations - but that should not be the only reason for the post." 

If you are primarily bugged because calypsus_1 posts images that your network at the office blocks, you are SOL. I do wonder what your boss, customers, donors and/or constituents would think of your perusing and/or posting to RP's boards while at work. You can get away with a lot of shenanigans while working in DC, but there are limits.

So not your call to make. Some of the stuff Lazarus pastes in does have relevance as commentary on the songs being played. I'd rather see that than your comments about your nipples, Lazarus, but maybe that's just me.

Prove it. Lazarus never bogged me down. It's pretty easy to ignore something or someone on these pages. There are so many different posters and exchanges here--and so few tools to organize conversational threads--that these pages invite and almost require skimming. I think, rdo, that you want these song pages to be something they're likely never going to be. You might find and create better discussions in the RP Community forums.

From what I've heard, Lazarus was banned for excessive swearing in the Community Forums. That decision as far as I can gather was Bill and Rebecca's decision. There was no vote of ostracism or banishment among RP members. If I'm right, your support for any such ban is pointless because the matter is not and never will be in your hands.   

While I have your attention, rdo: as I mentioned in my last post to Al Stewart's "Road to Moscow", I appreciate good discussions and debates on these boards but I suspect that you are using at least two user names to pump up or provoke exchanges. If I'm right, that is a violation of RP Forum posting guidelines:

"Only one active identity is allowed per person, except by permission from Bill & Rebecca. All members must keep a valid email address on file with us. You have the option of keeping your address private from other members, but we need to be able to contact you if necessary."

Personally, I find using two names to post stuff a bit odd but not too much of a problem as long as you don't try to whipsaw people between yourself and a straw man. That would be seriously FRICKING obnoxious. I really don't want to get caught between yourself and you in disguise as to whether WWII theaters beyond the Eastern Front were just side shows to the battles between Germany and the USSR. 

I would also personally appreciate it if you didn't start fights on these boards just to get a debate going. You're smart enough that you don't need to be obnoxious or provocative to attract people to your ideas.

"These Days" included on the album It All Starts with One......very Intimate, very intense,  Charming!... Peter Gabriel influence?  In a world as unstable "these days", and devouring mentality, I think it takes courage and determination, able to maintain a course and a vocation, and present a set of songs, a work of this style, with a truly remarkable degree of depth and refinement. Counter cycle. It is not for everyone.  For that reason alone, it deserves special mention. This young lady is an Elected.
Has anyone noticed, on the album cover, which one eye is represented by (ring) the head of a tiger?

"Alfonsina y el mar" is a song made famous by Mercedes Sosa. Alfonsina y el Mar (1969), is a composition of the pianist and composer Argentinian, Ariel Ramirez, produced in collaboration with writer Felix Luna, being one of the most regarded songs in Argentinian folk music, and pays homage to poet Alfonsina Storni, when she died into the sea at La Perla beach in Mar del Plata, and the poem she wrote as a goodbye message, I Am Going to Sleep.

Is surprising the courage and determination of the choice of this song, root as far, by Ane Brun, a woman Nordic, by its deep significance that the same song contains within itself, makes all the difference and is commendable.

Ane Brun sings in perfect Spanish and she explains that she learned this language to be able to listen to the music, and that this song is her favourite. Simply beautiful. Bravo! Ane, Muchas gracias.
