To my Dutch ears they sound a LOT like one of the better known singles of the Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation, AFAIK with international success.

When this burst out of the speakers I wondered if it was Ray Manzarek's 'Carmina Burana' for a moment. And then the vocalist joined in and it plumeted from a 9 to a 7. But continued orchestration and chorals brought it back to an 8. Pity the singer doesn't have the pipes to do the rest justice.

There are two Kingsbury Manx tunes on the playlist, as well as one from Trailer Bride, but they've yet to be played.  As far as I can remember, the only other Chapel Hill area bands I've heard here are Squirrel Nut Zippers and Southern Culture on the Skids, (and The Rosebuds, but they're from Raleigh).  There are a lot of bands out there - Bill can't get to all of them.  I'll have to upload some Dexter Romweber.

I like this.

It sounds a lot like the Bowerbirds, who are from Raleigh (same area as this band who is from Chapel Hill).. Unfortunately the Bowerbirds haven't gotten any love here... I uploaded some stuff to the LRC with no luck.

I'd like to hear more of this band.. I think I hear a saw in this song... remniscent of another Chapel Hill band, Trailer Bride... must be a NC thing

Acoustic folk orchestra?  My kind of eclectic!  The haunting backup up singers lend a "Wiccan" sound.  The youtube video is simple and lovely.  Filmed in a light snow with candles and walks thru the woods at night.  Sets a great mood.
