Do I ever wonder? You don't know, you'll never follow
And I'll never show, do you see the water and watch it flow
And float an empty shell? And you think that I'm hiding from the island
You've a fault in your senses, can you feel it now?

Time, what is that? I've no time to care, I've lived for a long
While nearly everywhere, you will be taken, everyone
You ladies and you gentlemen, fall and listen with your ears
Upon the paving stone, is that what you hear? The coming of the sea

Sea flows under your doors in London town and all your defenses
Are all broken down, you laugh at me on funny days
But mine's the slight of hand, don't you know I am a joker
A deceiver and I'm waiting for the land?

Sounds beautiful but to be honest the lyrics are meaningless nonsense.
Album cover makes me happy
Sandy Denny- what a gift.
“Is this not one of the better album covers ever created? A feast of color for the eyes!!” So reminiscent of that time. Glad I was alive then to experience the 67-72 musical epoch. Just amazing creativity by so many musical talents.
what a beautiful voice, reminiscent of Joan Baez at times but softer.
Sandy Denny. I fell in love with her sight unseen. We fell in love, married, and had a beautiful family before the song was done.
If I had the choise for only one song for the island, this one would be in my selection.
Wow...where have u been hiding this one Bill?   Recently I have come into the awareness of similarities between Nick Drake and Gordon Lightfoot...and now this has piqued my curiosity........
What a lovely song.. an easy 8!
I have the vinyl album Fotheringay but nothing to play it on. Thank you RP for playing this beautiful song which I have not heard since the 1970s. More from this album please!
Sandy Denny's voice has always had a direct line to my emotions!

One of my all time favorite LPs.
Nice antidote to the Black Keys! A real palate cleanser. Thanks Bill!!
Nick Drake's friends. Friends to silver haired pony tails and balding heads everywhere as well. Takes me back. Thanks Bill!
Lifted my nite........9

I'll second that!
Superb, one of the greatest voices and writers of all time. I prefer it when she was working with Richard Thompson on guitar.
She is still relevant and missed after all these years....
Her musical soul lives on,

As some of the other posters noted, that's because Sandy Denny wrote the song.

If you Google hard enough, you may also find the version of Who Knows Where The Time Goes she recorded in her garage as a demo.

Simply put, a wonderful song and performer whom we lost way before her time.
great tune!
Didn't know it was Dandy Denny ... and right away I knew it was Sandy Denny (or Fairpoint Convention).

Sandy was one of those artists whose influence exceeds their popularity.
Beautiful song!
A little Baez, Collins & Mitchell!
The transition from She Talks with Angels to Sandy Denny gave me the chills. Nice!

Who knows where the time goes was written by Sandy Denny btw though it was covered by many artists.
Made me think of Judy Collins "Who knows where the time goes"
Thought it was Joni Mitchell
