I'm not content to be with you in the daytime
Girl I want to be with you all of the time
The only time I feel alright is by your side
Girl I want to be with you all of the time
All day and all of the night
All day and all of the night
All day and all of the night

I believe that you and me last forever
Oh yea, all day and nighttime yours, leave me never
The only time I feel alright is by your side
Girl I want to be with you all of the time
All day and all of the night
All day and all of the night
Oh, come on...

I believe that you and me last forever
Oh yea, all day and nighttime yours, leave me never
The only time I feel alright is by your side
Girl I want to be with you all of the time
All day and all of the night
All day and all of the night time

The KINKS imitating Arcade Fire 16 years before they were born...

Arcade Fire? Is there *another* alt-universe Arcade Fire?  because the '00s one I know of is/was not at this '64 level of raw, original, authentic ballsy dynamic rock and roll.  Dull thumpin' art rock vs. proto-punk whup ass.  Why make comparisons where none are warranted?
Crunchy....
A rehash of their earlier "You Really Got Me" but lightning can indeed strike twice. The one-two punch was the template for countless garage bands that came after (along with, of course, the Kingsmen's version of Louie Louie).
Love the kinks but not this song, heard too damn much
Love Scorpions cover, too
Punk at it's finest!
"...but that wasn’t as bad as when the Doors came out with “Hello, I Love You'...
...My publisher wanted to sue. I was unwilling to do that. I think they cut a deal somewhere, but I don’t know the details."  - Ray Davies - 2014 interview in Rolling Stone.

Godlike song indeed, but I've always thought the recording and production engineering should have deserved to be better. The same song with a mastering at Abbey Road would have been even better.

Why change it that is how it sounds its perfect.
Worked stage crew on one their concerts. I was tasked to go buy them a case of beer. Borrowed my friend's 'Heavy Chevy', forgot to put it in Park when I got back. It rolled into a guy's BMW. Good concert though!

Rebecca: I don't like reggae no no I really really dislike it, but thanks to you I understand it. You and Bill could have easily accepted my offer, I know $500 I sent in 2002, let alone the $5k I would have if you stopped playing reggae right then and there would have been beyond helpful - but you of course made the right call. Thank you for teaching me a lesson I never forgot hopefully now I can teach you one.

Thanks,

Brilliant segue from The White Stripes "The Denial Twist" to this.  Bravo!

May the Goddess never EVER favor those pining for better production on a The Kinks song. I mean, good gawd man. I wanted a pony and a million bucks from ages 5-9. Never got either. Jeez.

Thankfully you didn't accidently wish for a million ponies and a buck and then DID get both!  And I'm right with you about the Kinks sound, I mean come on now....hell their NAME alone tells you what's up....Long Live RP!  (I'm at an 8 on this one)
music can spark memories: this song sparked a partial memory from my childhood. in those impressional years a dirty song can really make an impact. so 2 live crew(luke skywalker) took this song and made it filthy. nowdays, thanks to the internet, you don't need to remember too much to research & turn that partial memory into full. here is that song

Yeah, it's called Green Day. {#Razz}

I like the lo-fi production.

LMAO!
All right!

Arcade Fire!

ha!
Just curious - was playing Ray Davies after Chrissie Hynde intentional?  I think yes.
In my book, you could play this all day... and all of the night.  {#Bananajam}

Yeah, it's called Green Day. {#Razz}

I like the lo-fi production.

I agree that it would have been great if it was a better production but those were the days.  The Beatles had George Martin and a few years newer technology to give them a little edge by the time Abbey Road came along.  The first Beatles album I had was 'Introducing the Beatles' and the recording/production was not any better than this.

Could you image this recorded with today's expertise and technology?

Wouldn't be as good.  Its rawness warts an all is part of makes it so great.  This was low fi at its best and I say that in a good way.
10 cuz it pretty much defined riff rock

 I agree!! This is my favorite era of rock.

2nd song I learned on the guitar, shortly after House of the Rising Son... Good times!
Quintessential!
Love it! I drove my parents crazy with my enthusiasm for this song when I first heard it over the radio when I was 4 or 5. When I was 17, driving a hot-rod Cutlass with G-60 racing slicks, smoking weed, and drinking beer, it was in my 8-track AudioVox, and it ROCKED!

If anything deserves a "10" this is it - not complicated but you just have to feel happier and dance along.  "Godlike" indeed!

What he said - from the very first time I heard it, when it was released, to this playing - just love it.  One of the classic Brit rock tracks in a league of its own. {#Notworthy}{#Good-vibes}
This still kicks ass half a century later.
Excellent!
This IS rock n' roll!
Wow, first time?   I give it 10.
