A stretch. Just as likely predictive communist programming.
great sound by this awesome group  (that review is cool too, thank you poetdancer : )
I hear Paul Westerberg every time this one comes on and have to come check out the actual artist.
I found this on Vel Indica's web page and thought y'all might enjoy reading this -
What is Vel Indica? Just by name it sounds like some type of expensive red-haired marijuana from South America but it's not. Vel Indica is a magnificent band from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The band consists of Patrick Ferguson on vocals and guitar, Ken Simonds on bass and Karrie Sheehan on drums and percussion. The collaboration between this three-piece is an eclectic mix of indie-folk, alternative and post-punk.
While listening to Vel Indica, one may conjure up the spirit influences of several acts such as Joy Division, The Pixies, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, Neutral Milk Hotel and Jeff Buckley to name a few. However, they also sound like none of these with their own distinct and original style. Their sound is mildly dark, but not so dark that you want to throw yourself in front of a train. It has just that subtle tinge of melancholy that makes the sound interesting and you long to understand it. They are not to be cloned by anyone nor do they clone the sound of anyone.
You must definitely see and hear them for yourself to fully experience their musical aesthetic. I would definitely rate them as one of North Carolina's top bands on the indie scene. I think they are going places so can you join them for the ride?

Will soon be tromping across Wind River glaciers, talus, high passes and peaks. 10 days of food on my back, permagrin on my face. First time there. This song felt like a welcoming. THIS is why I love RP!
STUFFFFFFF)))
High-time for Vel Indica.
I like Vel Indica  (phewww, glad to get that off me chest : )
Not even totally bad. A 6 for now, but might climb if heard more often.
WTF?

PSD
That is some unusual song. Play it again, Bill. And lyrics, por favor.

Bleh........
Random observations about Wyoming. I noticed last week that land costs $300/acre there, as opposed to $3,000 or so per acre in East Texas.  The next day I noticed that W got 20 inches of snow, in September!  I'm not sure what it all means, but I just needed to tell someone.
Love this too......you are on fire with your programming tonight RP ......{#Music}   {#Hearteyes}  {#Whistle} ...keep it going.....
Really like this band....thanks for introducing them on RP! Thinking I'll splurge and buy the cd...

Hey Its Patrick from Vel Indica, Pretty close man,   Hows' it feel to bleed in the Papers.. and these Lakes will be moved... and this head will hold strong..

But the rest of what ya wrote is spot on. Thanks for listening.

Yeah I have partial lyrics in the liner notes of the album, but never was a big fan of posting my lyrics and really like people making their interpretations of our music for themselves.  I get a lot of "what does that song mean, or what is it about" when I write lyrics, as I'm often very vague...sometimes I tell, sometimes I don't  LOL

thanks again mate!!

I enjoyed the lyrics to the song and since people were asking and no lyric exists according to Google (this is so weird, it feels like being back in the 90s!) I did a quick sketch of what I *think* the lyrics are...

A few notes:
The first line is a reach... it sounds like "new papers" so "newspapers" was my logical reach...
Not sure if it is "winds will open US" or "UP"
When this "core is removed" is again a logical guess... core/corn and a few others might fit (I'm not from the US so some pronunciations don't occur obviously to me!) but core was most satisfying...

*****************

Oh Wyoming, how's it feel to bleed in newspapers, baby?
In the trees lie the calm and yoke that holds you together darling
With these eyes closed, lift the arms on up to the heavens now and
Place your bets upon who will win this day at the races yeah
And this heart will expire
And these legs will be moved
And this shirt will be torn
And this thread will stay tied

Oh Wyoming, how d'you like this change in the weather for now?
Winds will open us and wash away all the debt that has been taken
Young and hopeless, shave your head and light up the branches, baby
Get your feet blessed before we kill the angels of medicine
And our fruits will grow old
This tough skin, it will crack
When this core is removed

Oh Wyoming, it's time to pass the crown to the peasants now and
Turn your times back, when orphans would cry for mothers and fathers of sin
Skin your knees wet, with blood on your hands and mouth that will taste upon it
All the glory and goodness will place its eyes upon the masses now
We all remain calm
This door will stay shut
And your legs shake in their shoes
And your clothes will stay clean
And this hair will grow strong
This thief will be saved
That child will believe
That child will be grown

Oh Wyoming, it's time you spread your seeds out before us baby

I think so.
Nice.

Hey, another NC artist getting respect here. Very nice song. Patrick and Vel Indica, good job! I'll look you up on Facebook. You should play Raleigh sometime if you haven't already. Man, my fair state is getting such a great music scene. Love it.

This hit me the wrong way, then I realized it reminded me of "The Veils".  They last had a slot here over a year ago.

If had to choose, I'd way prefer "Lavinia" to "Oh Wyoming"

Have listened to this whole cd numerous times, and I think this might be my favorite song ... but really the whole thing is very good.
