If I was satisfied
would you be satisfied?
Oh no. Wouldn't know?
Well maybe, yes, I think it so.
Yes, maybe I don't know.

Careful. Watch your tongue.
Which of those thoughts are your own?
What's that mean?

Words they seem lonely
to be pretending to tell
three times removed
from what we really mean.

I don't think I'd want to risk reviving a sleeping elephant :o)
The lyrics speak to me. I'm from the South. Every word spoken is at least three degrees removed from the actual subject.

I heard "which of those socks are your own?"  Which seemed like a pretty good lyric.
With Andrew Bird ?

Pretty sure it is not a saw.  From distant memories in my youth of seeing old men playing the saw it seemed almost impossible to get spot on note perfect.  The notes and tune were identifiable but each individual note wavered all over the place.

On this song if you listen carefully the notes are spot on immediately so I expect they are using either a theremin  or a synthesizer of some kind.

Of course if the producer or recording engineer on that track is reading this perhaps you could enlighten us...

I have seen them in concert.  She plays the saw and she is AMAZING.  You need to check them out if you ever have a chance.

I've seen/heard a couple of pitch-perfect saw players. Looks like Bonnie Paine of ER is in that class.
sounds like someone who is beautifully whistling at parts...what a lovely sound!

Oh yes, this is absolutely a saw.
Only a 9 because it's too short {#Cheesygrin}

I couldn't find information about this particular recording, but the lead singer in this band definitely plays a musical saw.
Here is her playing in a live performance of this song.
And here is her playing one in another tune.
I've seen people play them in person, like any instrument, some are better at it than others.

This is a more satisfying clip to watch - has close up of saw and better fidelity.

So sad ER has parted ways... their live performances are outstanding - their recordings pale in comparison.
Elephant Revival just announced that they are "going on hiatus" after their next Red Rocks show this Spring. Hopefully they take the time they need and then come back to performing.

They are from Nederland Colorado, playing Eugene this Sunday, I think I have to go lol {#Sunny}
I'm satisfied. I'd get to 'What's that mean'?

I like it.
Strange how the spring sun streaming through my office window elevates this from a 4 to a 7.  I really like this today.  Thanks RP, for brightening my day.  Again.

exactly what I thought when I heard it!
I'll guess it's a saw...

I saw them live last year and they used a saw on this song.  My niece and nephew were delighted.  They had no idea that a saw could be an instrument.

I heard a couple of their songs here on RP, and after sampling more, I plunged in and bought several "albums" of MP3's, and I am enjoying them a lot.

The recording fidelity is outstanding, to boot.
My goodness! How awful! From 2 to 1

I wonder the same...
After listening to this band here for a few years, alls I can say is that I cannot remember any of their songs.   It's the same way with Beyonce for me, I could not tell you or recognize a single song by her even though she is probably the biggest star now.  It just does not register with me.

I am afraid I am following the shape of the ratings distribution today and giving her breathless warbling the bird.
digging this album overall. going to see them soon.
