Nice, but, I like the Ramsey Lewis & Harvey Mandel versions better!

Yes. Started kind of weird and folksy and went downhill and got all waily and screamy.
Painful.
I really think its cool!  A great piece by a strong individual

Based on the album cover, I wouldn't mind having her life, kitten, etc., but I would sing... differently.  Sort of a deflated wynonna judd doing an impression of nena simone.  But to be fair, it's hard for anyone to follow patty griffin.

I would follow Patty Griffin...well probably until she called the cops.  This tune didn't age well - very 1972.

I vote this PoS a 1.

Love Joni, but this feels like a labored attempt to channel Women's Lib scat singing from a tiresome corner of the 70s. Not my cuppa. But I love the cat.

So bad it's.........bad.
Sorry. Not digging this at all.
Unbearable :(

Evokes strong opinions, that's for sure.

I like odd and appealing voices, even if they do rub me the wrong way on occasion.

Don't like Joni, do like Ellen, don't like Sarah, do like Kate and  Julia so on.

Excellent thanks love the bongos and guitar

Ellen is Awesome!  Strong women very much appeal to me, ummm hummm, her strong voice had me think of Abbey Lincoln and Berth Hart, super foxes that put us in our place!

Ummm...Okay. My reasoning is less personal. It just made my head sore.
One of the more unique covers of this. She makes it her own. So it comes down to whether you like her style or not. I do. Others don't. And that's okay.

Ya know... I came in to downgrade this sucker. The voice just goes over the top a few times and I start to sink lower in my seat. But checking the LP it was 42 yrs ago... I'm gonna take my finger off the button.
Nice song - I can't really understand what means by her lyrics though. I guess that's part of the mystery.
very nice singer and accoustic music ! and good rythm !!!

never heard her before, how come ?

Can never hear enough Ellen.

Thanks.
Where has she been all my life?  A voice.
