Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you please don't take my man

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can

Your beauty is beyond compare
With flaming locks of auburn hair
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green

Your smile is like a breath of spring
Your voice is soft like summer rain
And I cannot compete with you, Jolene

He talks about you in his sleep
There's nothing I can do to keep
From crying when he calls your name, Jolene

And I can easily understand
How you could easily take my man
But you don't know what he means to me, Jolene

Jolene, Jolene
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you please don't take my man

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can

You could have your choice of men
But I could never love again
He's the only one for me, Jolene

I had to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
And whatever you decide to do, Jolene

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
I'm begging of you please don't take my man

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him even though you can
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can

i love this! i wish we had a wikipedia entry for it. quite interesting and sweet.
I still think it's awesome.
That was awesome. Thanks BillG!
Up to 10...Bill did you do the transcription?  Story please.
Try playing Blondie -The Tide is High 45 on 33.3 it's just as good

Bill, please put Slow Blondie on the playlist too?
Bad enough at full speed, even worse at half speed...call me when its over. {#Arghhh}
I love all of the Jolene's playing on RP right now.
I thought this was a cover and jokingly told someone in the room "they're playing this record too slow".

Then I came to here to see who it was and about fell over laughing!

You're one of a kind dj Bill {#Cheesygrin} It's great!
Made me click and have to see who this was.

Made me laugh.

And yet still a better version than the miley cyrus (sp?) version from the other day.
That's really something!! I would never had guessed that was a slowed-down Dolly Parton song!
Haunting and beautiful but it just doesn't begin to compare to the original.  A 6 for now.
wow!  for real??
I so miss vinyl sometimes. This is just so absurdly weird. It sounds completely normal! And yes, it sounds like a bloke singing.
beautiful
Bill - If the Dolly at 33-1/3 was an improvement, try playing all Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder songs at 0 RPM. That'll really improve their stuff!
This is hilarious, Bill!

Back when I was in high school, I played my sister's 45 of "Faith" by George Michael at 33.3 RPM for laughs, and it sounded like an old blues singer. Very funny and unexpectedly enjoyable, like this was.

I'm not gonna lie -- I totally thought this was a Ray LaMontagne cover or something.

You get a really short "Alvin and the Chipmunks" song!!

This song was probably written before Ray LaMontagne was even born.  Interesting effect, slowing down Dolly; I had read about this somewhere about a year ago.
Say what you like. Dolly played to the biggest crowd at Glastonbury this year and did a storming set. All hail the Dollyness!

Well said, my friend.  Well said.

On the other hand, if you pitch-corrected the vocals, the song might actually work better at this tempo.
It puts the lotion in the basket...........
Bill, you continue to have a knack for covers. ;-)

Actually, this demonstrates how on-pitch Dolly's voice truly is, and without auto-tune. Bless you Dolly. :-)
Love this.

And how about some Leonard Cohen?
Playing 45 rpm songs at 33rpm, you really need to get out more Bill.
{#Roflol}
I concur

I was kind of hoping it would be followed with "Lola" by the Kinks.   {#Wink}

Bill - I really think somebody is playing a joke on you this time.
A Dolly 45 played at 33.3 - I gotta check that out.
Is this ground zero for the Trans-Temporal Rights movement?

Agreed!
A major improvement over the original version - hilarious and a little weird.

...... it certainly grabbed my attention - such a great song on both speeds
Curious. Most curious.

lol Bill you are a strange man.

  he wasn't known as " Wild Bill " for being nermal.......and this does work really well

By the way, T. Rex' Get It On is a Chuck Berry song slowed down, pretty much note for note.
I love this.
I'm not gonna lie -- I totally thought this was a Ray LaMontagne cover or something.
Saw this go by on the YouTube earlier...
{#Notworthy}
what on earth is this?? please make the pain stop!!{#Foot-in-mouth}

Err, where is Dolly Parton's voice?  {#Think}
Heard this some time ago and I think its awesome. The groove is compelling!
OK Bill. You got to 11 on the weird meter. But, uh, why?
lol Bill you are a strange man.
You continue to surprise me Bill and Rebecca.

Guess that's why I have been hanging around for so many years.
That doesn't sound like Dolly?
Soooooo much better than @ 45rpm!!!!!

Nice! found this in my facebook feed the other day.  great to hear it here too!
