My baby told me, got to take one step at a time
You know my baby told me, got to take one step at a time
She got a crazy way of walking 'bout to drive me outta my mind

She never steps out, always walking proud
Lady never steps out and she's always walking proud
Well, the way the woman movin', makes me want to scream out loud

Well, she step to the left, she step to right
She walk all day, man she run all night
My baby told me take one step at a time
Well, she got a way of walking 'bout to drive me outta my mind

Yes, yes, play a while

She don't move too fast, she don't move too slow
She always knows the way I wants to go
Baby told me got to take one step at a time

Yes, that's what she told me
She got a way of walking 'bout to drive me outta my mind
Yes, that's the truth

Far as i know NOPE
This was Johnny's  first LP in a while with more blues based material. As the 80's came his music was entirely blues based and his best recordings began. I had seen him play live 5 times and was blown away by his virtuosity. One of the greatest guitarists to come out of Texas and there is a long list of great guitarists.
I had Still Alive and Well back in the day and love it just as much now.  Watched the Netflix Documentary on him last year.  Damn it made me sad.

and of course blew away all the rock guitarists too
much better material in the catalog. dig deeper.
Guy needs to eat a cheeseburger or a side of ribs or something. He skinnier than his guitar.

Unforgettable for sure. Saw him about 8 years ago in a small theater. His roadies had to help him onstage to a stool, and at one point we thought he was going to pitch face-first into the front row. But man, could he still play.
Reminds me of an event Sonny Rhodes played about ten years ago - the dedication of one of the few remaining buildings from the Chitlin' Circuit, in Smithville TX*. He came out wearing a Creamsicle-orange suit, had to be helped on stage - I was worried for him. Needlessly, it turned out. He took over, I mean flat took over. Backed by The Peterson Brothers, he owned the stage. Awesome.

*Smithville is where 'Hope Floats' was filmed - about 1/2 hour from me. Besides Sonny Rhodes and The Peterson Brothers, it also birthed a legendary jazz trumpeter named Hannibal Lokumbe - he teaches music at a local high school.

Laurie Anderson and John Cage, that about it for you?

You haven't lived until you've spent a Saturday night in a Texas roadhouse and a blues band is jammin' and some hotshot guitar player like Johnny Winter is bending strings like you wouldn't believe at the edge of the stage and the place is packed 'cause it's the day after payday and the humidity in the joint feels like it's 110% because everyone is sweating and happy and having a good time and I think that person over there is smiling at you and I don't care if people are five deep at the bar, it's time for another round!

Is that pot I smell?!?

I recommend Gruene Hall in New Braunfels. Good times.
I really like the blues, but for some reason i just can't get into Johnny Winter.
i feel like there must be something wrong with me...

Saw Johnny on or about 1988 at the Tower Theater in Sacramento, CA. Blew me away. At one point around the middle of the set, he was singing and just stopped and said "Aw fuck it, I'm just gonna play my guitar!." He went for over 2 hours. I don't remember what I spent for the ticket but it was worth 100x over.

Well, and then there were the rocking days.
Saw him more than 10x times - back in the 70's could not get enough.
His live version of Johnny Be Good still ranks as the best song I ever heard live out of hundreds of shows across many styles and decades.

I like to say he went where you wanted him to go before you knew you wanted him to go there.

Many many great blues & rock guitarists, but only one like Johnny.

I'll spell it out...Oh My God!  That was SO friggin' good!!!

In my mind though..."Saints and Sinners" was the best COMPLETE album he put together.

Just sayin'
