Lyrics:

I wear my aviator shades
Navigate into the grocery maze
Gonna murder my weekend in a haze
I wear my aviator shades

Sarah, can't you hear me fading? (Fading)
You know I stay like this for days (Fading)
Sarah, can't you hear my voice from far away
Behind my aviator shades

And I put my clothes on in the dark
It takes a little while
All my fashion statements missed the mark
By a thousand miles
Was there something I was supposed to do today?
O, god, I can't recall
Don't leave me wandering through the fray
Lest I lose my grace and fall

Sarah, can't you hear me fading? (Fading)
You know I stay like this for days (Fading)
Sarah, can't you hear my voice from far away
Behind my aviator shades

(I wear my aviator shades)
And who puts these hurdles in my way?
(Navigate into the gross remains)
Spreading me so thin, over every day
(Gonna murder my weekend in a haze)
And I can't be held to the things I say
(I wear my aviator shades)
Behind my aviator shades

It's The National but it's a pale imitation.

No, it's not. It's an improvement over The National. A jangly guitar, brighter vocals, a more upbeat tone. From a more funereal baritone crooner eating her brains to a boppy beach boy who needs his sunglasses.

It's not.  It's an unimaginative aping of another band, it's singer and it's style.  Music is art, get your own style or don't bother.

If you're going to become a painter, you don't rip off Picasso, Van Gogh, Renoir or Da Vinci, you try to be original.

Yes, that was my thought as well!

Pair of eyes Is a love that take
My breath away, cause I said so.

This sounds much more up-tempo (as in "less gloomy") than most stuff I've heard from The National, and the vocal style is completely different, but everyone hears different things I guess.
Yeah, but does he wear them at night?

Their other song on here is better.
Wow, I thought this was ZZ Top's Pearl Necklace when it first started.

Just plain awesome!

Thank you so much for pointing me to this somewhat hidden gem...

I can't be held responsible for the things I say.
I was just looking at RP's new cd's list and I thought I'd like to hear this and wha-la here it is,.....um, does this mean RP can read our minds?!?
"Who puts these turtles in my way?!?"
I like this song, but why is it that people that wear these shades look like jerks, ya know like the Kardashians.
Grabbing my shades and taking flight !     Cool pop sound . :)
