When you just want someone to lie there and be used as a slave
Can I be him?

When you just want someone more for their being and not so much for their brains
Can I be him?

When you need someone to cry on in the depths of despair
I shall be elsewhere

When you're all talked out and languished silent in the physical realm
I will be waiting

When you just want someone to lie there and be used as a slave
Can I be him?

When you just want someone more for their being and not so much for their brains
Can I be him?

Can I be him?
Can I be him?

One of Fife's finest cultural exports, as well as KT Tunstall (whom he's mates with) and Ian Rankin. He's a bit too soft and laid back for my liking.

OK love the tune but he is really just asking to be your f*@k buddy! and have nothing to do with your issues. He's being incredibly shallow.

Yeah.  I love the groove but the lyrics are disappointing.
I love this song!

Shallow?  Ironic, Sarcastic, Satirical, or Cynical .. yes.  But not shallow.
Now that's a dirge.  I "just want" it to end.

I think his point just whooshed over your head. Look at the Title again.
Love it
And the problem with being a f**k buddy is ?

I grew up in the Arizona desert. I think of the scent of creosote after it rains. And because rain was such a rarity in the Sonoran Desert, the smell of creosote always makes me happy.

I’ve tried those lines many times and failed. I wonder how successful they are in song form?
I kinda like the music, but the lyrics are creepy. If they are supposed to be, well done! If not, maybe he's a creep.
A slowed down trippy version of 'Western Union' by the Five Americans

More likely it's from National Lampoon's "The Romance of King Creosote"

I suppose. . . but back in my early 20's this would have been my theme song.

40 years later I really like it for its beautiful rhythm, and. . . because, after 40 years of marriage to the same lovely lady, I get to reminisce on how incredibly shallow I was back then.

person: Yeah, that one... I don't know which it is.

other person:   hmmmm.  We'll probably never know.

Either way... it's working for me!

Shades of Cynaera ... RIP.
Great piece of music art and another awesome discovery here on RP! Long live…
Sorry, I work in the railroad industry, this is what I think when I hear King Cresote:

The organ (I suppose that is the instrument) is reminiscent of a live Pink Floyd piece from the distant past, in my altered psyche. That alone is a compelling draw for me. There is a dreamy quality that I recognize.
Love it - Ethereally.

Given the comments about the sexual content, this fits in well

I have known a few women who wanted only that level of engagement.  OK, maybe add "dinner partner", but seriously, no other attachments.  (And I was single from ages 53 to 61.)
In the immortal words of Joe Strummer: "Fuckin' long, innit?".

Well, dangit if I didn't get that the first dozen times I've heard this one....this is FOR SURE a FB song, each verse is clearly indicating this....so I'll go +1 and call it an 8 now, and Long Live RP and FukBuds (or spouses lol)
King Creosote on RP? Huzzah to that!

Love this one.  Not sure it's a great song by any objective measure, but love it nonetheless.

I didn't like this song before. Now that RP shows the lyrics right on the page . . . I like it less.
Love the groove/production on this song.

A weeeee bit long
This is excellent. I loved From Scotland with Love but thought it a one-off. Clearly not. An 8 from me.
This gets better every time.  An 8 from Bristol today.  Despite the buzzing mentioned in the comment below, which I agree with.
Loving the Celtic/ Tibetan vibe. Throw in a bit of phsycadelia. Mmm good mix
Listening again today after hearing in the stream last night.... what the living heck is all that guitar string buzzing left in the mix for? Super annoying that they thought it was cool or something.
yeah my favorite song at the moment :)
J'adore ! Very anthropomorphic {#Good-vibes}
Never heard this, what an interesting stir........
Creepy Ray Manzerek electric piano
Just went from a 7 to an 8.  This song is haunting and stirs up a lot of emotions at a time when a friend is in the battle of his life.  Thanks RP.
Very lilting and cool!!

Love the band name, partly because our dog, a 13 yo MinPin, thinks of creosote as an aftershave, or as his scent.  On walks, through Portland neighborhoods, down at the Rhododendron Garden, or wherever he smells creosote, Eddie will rub against the wood, or whatever surface, and I have video, but I don't think I can share here.

Trump is going down!! Yay for the Home team!!

There's a fresh apple from outer space, landing on planet RP...
this is the first song to get my attention enough that im making a comment in just about a year, very nice, will deffinately purchase the album and hope for more like it
Bumping to an 8. Very nice
King Creosote, aka Kenny Anderson, has two brothers, one of which is Gordon Anderson, formerly of The Beta Band and now part of The Aliens. Well worth checking out any project associated with these guys.
This fella is great live, not just the music but he does interact with his audience. Well worth a listen.

Scots?

Yep. King Creosote is just the one guy, who hails from the Kingdom of Fife, like KT Tunstall whom he's a good mate of. He specialises in fairly laid-back dreamlike songs, and has become quite the star in Scotland, though he's not achieved (and mebbe disnae want) the international fame of his friend.
Scots?

wished I was on hallucigens right now.

It is, for about the first four minutes, then...well...pretty good song overall.
King Crimson they are not.  Pace is a little plodding for my taste.

Great to hear KC on RP! He has so many great tracks please play some more. Fantastic songwriter !
Is that freedom rock man?  Love the organ... Cool tune, vintage style
I raise my eyebrow to this one.  In an intrigued way.
