Run, whirlwind, run
Further and further away
Into the sun
In twenty minutes
Everyone will remember you when you're gone
And your heart is a stone
Buried underneath your pretty clothes

Don't you know people write songs about girls like you?

What will you do when something stops you?
What will you say to the world?
What will you be when it all comes crashing down on you little girl?
What would you do if you lost your beauty?
How would you deal with the light?
How would you feel if nobody chased you?
What if it happened tonight?

How would you cope if the world decided to make you suffer for all that you were?
How could you dance if no one was watching and you couldn't even get off the floor?
What would you do if you couldn't even feel, not even pitiful pain?
How would you deal with the empty decisions eating away at the days?

Don't you know people write songs about girls like you?
Girls like you
Girls like you
Don't you know people write songs about girls like you?
Girls like you
Girls like you

Everything you say is fire
All the claims you lay you liar
Everything you say is fire
See it in the grey you crier

A "6" average rating..?
So Sad that So Many People (here) simply cannot accept and appreciate New Music.
"On 6 December 2010, the BBC announced that The Naked and Famous had been nominated for BBC's Sound of 2011 poll.[15]

In 2011, the band garnered six nominations at the New Zealand Music Awards for Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Best Group, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best Alternative
Album and the People's Choice Award. They were also nominated for the
NZ On Air Best Music Video and won the MAINZ Best Engineer Award and its
Best Producer Award.[16]"

Stuck in their own little worlds of Stones, Beatles, Dylan, etc...

Sorry, barguybrady, but your post is probably not going to boost the ratings for The Naked and Famous.  You like them (and so do I) but the listeners who don't like this song are totally allowed to vote based on their own musical tastes.  That's why ratings systems were created!

Criticizing them for their tastes makes no sense, and saying these listeners are "stuck in their own little worlds of Stones, Beatles, Dylan, etc..." will just piss people off.  How do you even know this - telepathy?  Plus those musicians you mention comprise a fairly large portion in the music world pie.

And lastly, using music awards nominations as evidence of how good a band is, may not be the strongest evidence of a band's merits.  Taylor Swift just won some pretty big awards at the Grammy's, and I've never heard a single one of her tunes on RP (thankfully, in my humble opinion).

So, in closing, I offer you this tad of advice.  Enjoy this band every time a  song of theirs gets played, and ignore the ratings and negative posts.  Or. . listen to the band's albums or downloads whenever you desire.  And consider yourself lucky.  I have musical artists' songs on playlists I've made that I think are better than some on RP, and they've never played on RP.  I'm totally okay with that.
Unashamed Kiwi Bopping.

Girls Like You - New here on RP  only 13 ratings 3/31/22.
Sounds older than from 2010, but this was my first hearing.

Not likely in rotation often.   1 year later only  54 ratings.
This is my 2nd hearing and I'm sticking with my initial rating.
