Get your sweets from the candy man
Get your truth from the shelf
Don't buy into the fairy tale
Just be good to yourself
'Cause you know that I love you, girl
You're my way out of hell
But I've just one more song to sing
One more story to tell

When I'm tired of the bright lights
When I'm tired of the wine
I'll go down to New Mexico
To the depths of the mine
When I'm forty years older
When I'm wrinkled and wise
I will trade all my liberty
For that look in your eyes

Reason gonna blind you
Cripple and confine you
Listen as your poor heart breaks
Take a trip to America
Let the wind blow right through your hair
We'll buy beer and some hope to share
Every day

'Cause freedom
Is no small thing
We punish the child
For flying too high
For rushing like the wind

Reason gonna blind you
Cripple and confine you
Listen as your poor heart breaks
(Stars are like diamonds we fly across the sky for them
No one's gonna change who we are)

'Cause freedom
Is no small thing
We punish the child
For flying too high
For rushing like the wind

I’m so in love with this album and backstory. I saw them in concert in May and it was one of the best live experiences. 🥰

You Lucky Duck!  I wish I was there too!

I Agree!
Love TFF, but this isn't the strongest cut from the album.

Somebody call the waaaambulance.
Thank you Bill. Your my musical muse today
Worth at least a 7 for using 6/8 time, but I do like it.
I had to look twice at the artist. This is amazing, especially given that its TFF. Don't get me wrong, loved them in the 80s, but their later work never resonated.
Some artists fade away as they age and become less connected to the world.  These guys seem to have managed to not only stay relevant, but have created an album that is vital, fresh and really, truly inspiring.  Amazing given the time from The Hurting to this release.  Thanks for playing TFF William and you RP pirates....bravo.
