You with your X-Ray specs
You can see inside of me
Or not
I'm a boxer on the ropes
You are standing in
My light
You've wound yourself around me
Like you know me

I am smelling user
Something bright and clean
And shiny
And when my back is turned
The point of a blade
A blade

Always "You know me"
Always "You know me"
"You know me"

"Keep your arms up son!"
You don't scare me
Bone China teas, China tea
Old galaxies, galaxies
And a town that's under water
None of this is mine
And a town that's under water
None of this is mine
Is mine

Always "You know me"
Always "You know me"
"Know me"

Don't think you know me
Don't think that I am everything you say...

This is the third track from the album I’ve heard, and i think I’ve progressed from ‘confused’ through ‘intrigued’ to ‘enjoyed’

It’s a free country, that’s a good one !

Yes, The Smile on RP!
Balsy move because the albums are not easy listening but I love them.

Anywhere I've ever seen it, the word "ball" is spelled with 2 L's! Even "ballsy".

Thus far, I've only heard the few selections from either group. But, IMHO, Radiohead and The Smile are polar opposites. I've enjoyed the Radiohead I've heard but, can't say the same for The Smile.

This totally mellows me out.   Not the best song to listen to while working.  However will sound better later when I have a glass of wine in my hand.

Debatable.

This tune seems about 2 or 3 notes away from being a funeral dirge!
Not worthy (of RP)

Is "I love RP, but I just don't understand William's fan-boy love affair with Thom Yorke" classy enough?

Haha - YES, well done  ;-)

And, as huge Radiohead/Smile fan I agree this track is not exactly a good fit for RP. I can only imagine the bile for those who are not fans.
Why? WHHYYYYYY? Why more of this? So much more of this?
What is the point of Thom Yorke's prolific monotonous whining?!?!?

This is one of those polarizng songs.  I just read a note from Andrew Hickey of 'A History of Rock and Roll in 500 Songs" and this is what he had to say about 'fighting' in the comments on his Podcast:

That's not to say don't express your distaste if you find something distasteful, just be mindful about how you express it so as to not cause needless upset to others. And similarly, I'm going to *ask* people to not overreact too much to someone saying they hate something you love. After all, you've already won in that you have more things to enjoy in your life than they do. They're already suffering by not seeing the beauty you see in Latvian fusion-death-metal-hip-hop or whatever.

My personal take is that the more people dislike groups I like, then the better chance I have of seeing those groups live in a small venue. That's a win.

Bill,

Get over this album. Thom Yorke's voice and "music" are torment.
This totally mellows me out.   Not the best song to listen to while working.  However will sound better later when I have a glass of wine in my hand.

I know it's just my own personal taste, but I tend not to enjoy most of Radiohead stuff.  I read the wiki entry for smile (that section is always interesting and usually leads me down a rabbit hole!) and I thought OK - let's see if this can develop my musical taste a little.  But sadly, no.
To me, the listening experience is just boring and as rgio just posted ... the lyrics are pretty inaudible.

To all the millions of Radiohead fans out there .. enjoy!
I'll just make use of the PSD button. Thanks William - Long live RP!

I ask myself "what is this dreadful misery? Sounds like RadioHead."
Sure enough, another exercise in torture via Thom Yorke's miserable voice..

Interesting, always zeitgeisting there Bill
Not clear why we are only hearing tracks from their second album and not the first? The first is amazing also. And if you can see them live - do. They are, unsurprisingly, awesome and you can do it in a small venue.
Definitely not an "attention grabber", to be sure! A lullaby, perhaps. Not much else! Just, IMO, even though the lyrics "steer" it into the eclectic category, it just doesn't seem to be a very captivating tune. Rather boring. Radiohead.... MUCH better stuff!

Even reading the words, I'm not sure what Thom is saying.
