When I lived in San Antonio, my mom, with her Southeast Texas accent, pronounced it San-TONE-ya, but I've never, ever, in real life heard someone call it San Antone. Only in songs.

This was one of my most favorite CDs from the Eagles. I love "Already Gone" and I have a story in the beginning stages, using that song as the closing segment, with two beefed-up Camaros (or other metal-cars) zooming into the horizon on a long, straight stretch of vacant two-lane highway in Nevada, with the camera on the center line, facing the sunset as they race past, side by side. The story itself is undeveloped, but I can't hear "Already Gone" without seeing exactly what I'd love a movie to be.  And "Midnight Flyer" would be on the soundtrack, too, except I haven't figured out where to put it yet...

That bass line is so "smokey and the Bandit". And not in a cool kinda retro way either. More of a "uh, that hillbilly just spit tabacco on my shoe" kinda retro.

Actually, as I understand it, the record company was trying to MAKE them into a country band, but they really wanted to rock. These guys are good musicians. Whether you like them or not is strictly a "musical taste" thing. No one can fault them for not being able to play and sing well. Their first 3 albums are pretty country and bluegrass tinged.... I loved them through "One of These Nights", then they just got boringly commercial, IMHO.
