My favorite Cowboy Junkies tune!
Sounds like Natalie Merchant on a bad day. At best it's some kind of tentative thing called "singing" from someone's sister/lead-singer who-can't-really-sing-except-from-middle-C-to-G if there's no humidity.

Never listened to the Cowboy Junkies. This sounds like 10,000 Maniacs from the In Your Tribe album... which makes it not unpleasant, but not exactly essential.

Been hearing way too much of the Cowboy Junkies lately. I don't think they deserve as much play as RP gives them. Great band, they have some good albums, but why are they played so much when so many other deserving artists aren't on the playlist?

Yes, Margo is scorchingly hot, but almost all of the songs are not: they are coma-inducing. The Boring Flunkies, as I call them, need a wider range, but after two decades in the biz, it ain't gonna happen.

It builds oh so nicely, and hits some kinda high for so long I can't believe it and then it twists and grabs me in another way and Oh God I just love it...

Anniversary Song was their encore when I saw them live about a year ago. This album is so good it's stupid.

I love the Junkies, one of my favourite bands by far. I own absolutely everything they ever released, but this song was always my least favourite from one of their best albums.
Anyone interested in learning more about Cowboy Junkies should get this album as well as:

Radio Paradise has successfully brought me back to an appreciation of the Junkies, who I lost track of after their second release. I had no idea these guys had such a catalog. I've found them all on eBay and now I'm current! Never get tired of Margo's voice. Just consistently listenable music from these guys, not one badly done song in the whole catalog.

I'm glad you pay attention to their lyrics; they're quite intelligent. There are references to Garcia-Marquez and Faulkner among others just on this album alone. I love Trinity Sessions, but this album might be even better. Can't swear to it, but it just might be.
