Long ago and oh so far away
I fell in love with you
Before the second show
Your guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear
But you're not really here
It's just the radio

Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby
You said you'd be coming back this way again baby
Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby
I love you, I really do

Loneliness is a such a sad affair
And I can hardly wait to be with you again
What to say to make you come again
Come back to me again
And play your sad guitar

Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby
You said you'd be coming back this way again baby
Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby
I love you, I really do

Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby
You said you'd be coming back this way again baby
Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh, baby
I love you, I really do

I agree.  I love RC but this is tired.....

I normally like Rita C but just had to look to see who was mangling this tune. Quite surprised that it comes from Joe and Leon and company.
Atrocious
And are the carpenters off limits? And dionne warwick? Lots of mellow music that sounds better than this
Agree. Plus it was played half hour ago
Horrible.
I hate to say it, but I really prefer The Carpenters' version. I love Rita Coolidge, but she sounds a little off key sometimes here.
Saw Rita sing this at Lockin Festival the year Joe Cocker died at a tribute that everyone from Tedeski Trucks to Leon Russel came for. They re enacted the whole of Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Absolutely heartbreaking and uplifting. I cried.
