Pausing after each line ruined this song for me. And the scratching. And Fatboy Slim. Ick.

This post brings up one of the things I tolerate least, a commenter that decides to replace letters and parts of names to make some holier than thou derogatory remarks about an artist or trade mark.. It's: Plug and Play not plug-n-pray (regardless of the fit) Microsoft not Microsh*t or Microshaft (even though I personally dislike microsoft with every fiber in my being) and the artist's name is Fatboy Slim

Sampling is a euphemism for plagerism which is a euphemism for theft. If you can\'t write decent stuff, then don\'t. If you can\'t front decently, then don\'t steal! Say....If a piece gets no more than 4 points after over 100 listener ballots, how about not playing it again?

It might not have a high rating, but it sure got a lot of people\'s attention and provoked them to make comments... :D

Don't get me wrong - I like some sampling. The Run DMC/Aerosmith colaboration was fresh & creative for it's time. This, however, is probably the most god-awful remake I have ever heard (well, maybe aside from Leonard Nemoy's remake of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - but at least THAT one is funny). This sounds to me like a poorly-arranged, disjointed collection of random sampling and scratching. I can't wait 'til FlatBore Sh*t's 15 minutes of fame is over - shouldn't be long. This earns my first 1 rating. Please inscribe the word "crap" on the CD's shiny surface with a sharp metal instrument.

I was just subjected to the horrific techno makeover of Enya\'s Only Time, so this remix is heavenly in comparison.

I like both versions as well. As remixes go it is pretty tame and Norman just decided to add a few little tweaks unlike some over the top remixes where you need the song title before you can recognize the original song.

Took an average song and made an average mix of it. Wheee. :roll:

Oh my god this is horrible. I\'m all for remakes and remixes, as long as some skill and artistic sense is applied to it. This is Fatboy Slim just getting recognition from the old farts of a song they once knew. If this used an original sound track for the overly-looped idiocy, no one would bother every listening to it. This does both a disservice to Steppenwolf, who had skill, artistic talent, and some morals, and to hip-hop, which -can- have some real beauty. Ugh.

This remix sucks.

You know.. I just LOVE looking back at these comments after time... especially since I'm one of those that loves both the original of this, AND Fatboy Slim's upbeat version.. I can also imagine Bill getting a laugh too.. I mean we're not talking the arguments of Darwin vs. creationism... or are we.. I would dare say *some* have evolved to enjoy more than just an original work of art (music is art too) ... :p :D

There should be no sacred cows -- especially in art. Push the envelope, fatboy.

it is just tooo funny reading the comments to this one.. seems very few middle of the road people on this one... you either like it or hate it... still worth playing though.. I mean really if I can tough it out thru the remake of prince by that twang chick, you people can tough this one out! :D

Love the original.. love this one just as much... Some times classics don\'t lend well to \"modernizing\" ... but I think Fatboy Slim did ok.. I also liked his take on Bird of Prey.. but some say I\'m crazy.. Well I gotta go now.. they are moving me to ward 12, the walls are softer there.. :D

this is not Fatboy Slim, it was a guy named Philip Steir who remixed it.
