Nope! I love it ♥️
With all due respect...this one SUCKED.
Sometimes the best songs are also the simplest. :D
I have to agree with the 2 posters below about the annoying bass line and the "oo's" in the background. Give me straight Cash please!
Boring... :headshake: :headshake:
good song... anyone see "Far Away, So Close!" ? This was in that movie...a strange movie at that.
U2 and Johnny Cash -- what a great idea! Uh, what a lousy actual song. Lyrically OK, but the music sounds like a bad attempt at music by someone's kid brother using their Radio Shack synthesizer setup. Urgh.

In your face while holding you down with a knee in the chest!

You can't play too much Johnny Cash. Just don't overplay any one song. I do not think that he and U2 are great together, though--this song sounds so very monotonous. Two tune progressions, the two lines used over and over and over again, for too much of the song. Also, cannot hear Johnny very well over the instrumentation and the totally pointless "oo-oo" backings. That means I couldn't make out the lyrics, which is rather sad, considering that that was Johnny Cash's forte, and considering the admiring comments of other listeners. I am sorry that the rock contingent did not appreciate J.C. more when he was alive. :? :headshake:  R.I.P., great American cultural icon!
Rest In Peace (RIP) Johnny Cash
Always thought the lyrics to this were especially powerful. Until now, I never realized how approporiate it is that they are sung by Johnny Cash. "He was more than wise. In a garden full of weeds – the oak tree." -Bono
Am I the only one that's heard that Jonny Cash passed away this morning. Please people show some respect for the main in black. Not only a worthy artist, but an American musical icon.

Amen!
We need more Johnny Cash on this sad day...At least he's with June, now.
Good Bye to the man in black... He will be missed.
In true Johnny style: Screw all you people with your cries to make it stop. Johnny and U2 kick ass. Period.
This song is okay...Johnny Cash is still the coolest, though. Good show Johnny!
The one colorful track on an otherwise (mostly) bland album. And actually, it doesn't need Bono's "oo's" in the background.

Ok, you take point and I'll flank em'.
I actually wouldn't mind this song at all if it weren't for that repeating, crappy bass line. U2 and Johnny Cash together should have been awesome. Alas, this should have been a B-side. A lost b-side. Real lost.
I remember when this album was promoted by a radiostation by playing it at the potter's park zoo. Walked around in an altered state of mind listening to this cd through the parks speakers Was very surprised when this came on and was the last song on the cd. Later went out and bought the cd. (I think we were looking at the camels when it came on. I don't think I remember any goats at the park though) Quote: Originally Posted by BlueHeronDruid: Mommy, make it stop! Please... s\'ok doesn\'t make me wanna do back flips. :)
This song stuck with me enough to go back to check out information on it a day later. Johnny is a classic and U2 recognize that, putting him out there as himself, just enough of themselves to augment, not overpower. Do I want this on constantly...no, but the point of eclectic is the bit of spice that comes from time to time. And that is usually the flavor you remember
There should always be a time slot for Johnny Cash.
This is a fantastic track - in particular I find it so reassuring that a band of the scale of U2 can still do music like this that is bare and stripped down (rather than bombastic in their normal style), so that its musical elements and character can shine through. Soulful is the single word that comes to mind.
Please, Bill, I know, eclectic, eclectic, eclectic!! But, jeez, this one makes me want to go Postal!!
Drone... drone... drone.... drone.... drone Utter shite
Two great tastes that taste great together. And to the honourable Mr. Cash:

And the song forshadows Pop's lyrical theme. I'm not religous...not even particularly spiritual, but I love this song....and pop
Say what you want, Johnny Cash is still cool with me OK so I\'m over 50, and like Johnny Cash :D SUE ME :p :D
Neat song in a lyrical, been-up-waaay-too-long kind of way. What the heck is with the cheesy organ beat, though? Reminds me of one of the \'songs\' off of the Bob and Doug Great White North album.

Well, it does something to my stomach. Not good, mind you. Cash sings, what, a total of 4 different notes here? Drone, drone, drone. It's sad what too much lithium does to a man.
Ahh... ;)
I listen to this station for the variety. Here, I catch songs that I wouldn\'t ordinarily get to hear. The songs are eclectic. This one really fits that description. Good choice.
They really shouldnt bring microphones into the nursing homes
I can see no reason whatsoever to play the klaxon sound at the end, regardless of how great or how terrible the rest of the song is. It\'s almost amusing at the end of _Achtung, Baby_, but really doesn\'t help in a radio-like stream.

...except for the, errh, noises half a minute after the song has ended...

Geez, this really sucks. :(
Lyrically, I think this may be Bono\'s best work. Powerful stuff.
Different sounding with Johnny Cash. Makes me want to check out more of his music. This and lemon have to be my favorites on the Zooropa album.
