I guess I could have used the edit button. As for ridicule and abuse, I'll spare you all the conversations that go on in my head.
Stevie Wonder gone Muzak? ACK!
This is right up there with Pat Metheny's version of Fire on the all-time classic-butchering list.

If this were playing in an elevator, it would surely be one going somewhere far less interesting than hell, no? ;) But I agree in spirit--not sure this is the worst thing I've heard here, but as a cover (or, ahem, "remix"), it seems to me to insult the original. Hell, the musicians aren't even playing that well...
the word travesty comes to mind
Eeew. Eeew.... Eeeewww!!!!

I guess technically 'eclectic radio' would include muzak but do we really have to be technical about it? Please, leave this for the shoppers at the mall, ok?
What's the point of doing this unless you're going to take a song like this somewhere - this verison goes nowhere.
some of the melody parts reminded me of the violin player from Kansas (the band)....can't believe it ...I just did a search and I found that RP hasn't played any Kansas...I may have finally found something I can upload...and no It won't be "Carry on my wayward son"
yeah. it seems cool for a second or two, then you realize that you're listening to an elevator muzak version of Stevie Wonder.
I think it's kind of groovy.
Oh no...here it comes...yeah oh....
i just love a funky violin! :-({|=
Wow. I thought it would be impossible to suck the soul out of this song, but apparently I was wrong.

ok-- after the solo was over I could recognize the melody from Stevie's original-- which made it even worse, because that was a really good song.

Ditto. Forced me to log-in so that I could give it a 1.
I'm going to have to wait a bit for a definative judgement. I enjoy the original so much, it is hard to shake it from my expectations as I listen to this. My initial impression is that the overall production is just too smooth. The original seemed to have sharper edges which better fit the idea of "living in the city".

You are right this is interesting indeed. Sax would be a better choice instead of violin. but it isn't too too bad. Interesting

You could probably call this "technically competent" but I just really don't think this is something that needed to be done.
Someone thought this was a good idea. They were wrong. Forget the blue note. This is more like the "brown note" ala "South Park."
Why not be the first? Okay -- this bites. It's a half step away from "Symphonic Rock." The words, and the vocal delivery, carry so much of the content of this piece that the fiddle is just drawing outlines ....
"Weird"? THAT'S generous.... OUCH!!!
Well that's pretty weird.
