Life could be a dream
Life could be a dream, sh-boom

Life could be a dream, sh-boom
If I could take you up in paradise up above, sh-boom
If you would tell me I'm the only one that you love
Life could be a dream sweetheart

Hello hello again, sh-boom and hopin' we'll meet again, boom

Oh, life could be a dream, sh-boom
If only all my precious plans would come true, sh-boom
If you would let me spend my whole life lovin' you
Life could be a dream sweetheart, sh-boom

Every time I look at you
Something is on my mind
If you do what I want you to
Baby, we'd be so fine

Oh, life could be a dream, sh-boom
If I could take you up in paradise up above, sh-boom
If you'd tell me, darlin', I'm the only one that you love
Life could be a dream sweetheart

Hello hello again, sh-boom and hopin' we'll meet again, boom

Sh-boom

I was kind of surprised when I read this song was by a 1970s mod band, especially since the song is from 1954... This would be the correct Wikipedia page.

Thank You for the info!
The bio info for The Chords is not correct. The link does go to the correct band's wiki page but the description showing on this PR page is not The Chords.

A well placed song.
WHY?

One of my more useless classes in college,  but more fun, was "History of Rock & Roll". The instructor, who had played with Buddy Guy maintained that this song was the first real rock & roll song.  And it was promptly covered by The Crewcuts, a white band,  so it wouldn't offend any white sensibilities.

This is closer to big band music, e.g., Cab Calloway, than RNR.
Artist info is not correct...

Great song though!!
9.5 Singers does an amazing acapella version of this: https://www.reddit.com/r/nextf...
How can anyone give this a sucko-barfo!?!

My 6 year old son really loves this one too  ! The others song in this movie are also great :)
I can never hear this without also hearing Stan Freberg's parody version - look it up!
The description of this group from RP is wrong. They were American, not British! There was a later British group in the 1970's with the same name, but this recording was  from the 1950's group "The Chords" from The Bronx.

Was it Dr. Budds at Mizzou, by chance?

OK -- I don't love the song...  But, I do love being exposed to all these historic firsts.  Learning about all the music that I had no clue about is better than any "music appreciation course" any school could devise!  The music history you expose to us, is... priceless.  Just listen, leave this page up, and then as your curiosity demands, read some of the comments and the Wikipedia entries.  I feel richer from having heard this cut, even though I wouldn't care the hear it more than a few times in the future.

What a great idea... make RP part of the music education in schools...🌝🌝🌝
Now that's just make ya' smile fun. I can't imagine someone who considers him or herself a 'music lover' that wouldn't like this.
"If you do what I want you to
Baby, we'd be so fine"
Built to Spill Life's A Dream > The Chords Sh-Boom.  Well done, RP.

And stay there, please.
How is this amazing doo-wop classic not appreciated more.  Anyone who has played in a band knows how hard it is to hold a live recording like that together in all the pieces.  I'm impressed.  And just love the melody.
Sheesh! This song is as old as me but it’s in better shape.

this song reminds of when me and my gramma would go for breakfast down to the local diner.i would jam this on the jukebox whilst she would flush the customary cherry bomb down the toilet, good times, thank you gramma and the chords too i guess.
This is fantastic.

Obviously RP is not for the likes of you. Buh-bye.

Same !
This song is much more plesant than I remember. Probably becuase it was mostly background music on Happy Days when I was introduced to it.
just terrible.

UC Santa Cruz  per chance? somewhere around 1991?

I haven't heard this in years - sounds great.

I tend to agree with you, Kaisersosay. Generally speaking, that is.
There was a variety show in the 70s that featured this number, accompanied by stock footage of nuclear weapons tests.
Great, great song on its own - here's a fun remix

I could listen to this all day long!

Not a doo wop fan, BUT the harmonies and incredible sax playing may convert me.
Love Doo Wop Hell, I like anything :)
Thanks Bill! I'm renovating my old house, listening to RP, and realizing that the last time they renovated this place, the top 40 radio station could have been playing this song...
This song is perfection!
"I'm a plant." "I thought they called people like you 'fruits'."
it always makes me think of Cry Baby
"No, Communism was a red herring." (This song always make me think of Clue)
Can I give it an "11"?
