Lay your head
In my lap
Let the sound of my laugh
Comfort you now, here in the cold

Your face gets wet
As the drink slips from my hand
And the faster I drive, the harder I cry,
"Don't worry I'll get us there."

And I look down at you,
You look up at me
We're a real fucked-up family

We make it home
This place is a mess
The smell of cologne
Mixed with all that we own
Not much, I must confess

And I hold your hand
As you slip from me
As I watch your breath
I say to myself, "One day this will all end."

And I look at you
You look at me
We're a real fucked-up family

All night I feel it inside
But I know you're right
As I begin to pack
Without raising your eyes, I hear you sigh
Oh, you'll be back

Because I look to you
And you look to me
We're a real fucked-up family

Beautiful song but now I am asleep

I agree completely...  not depressing, just emotional truth wrapped in a sweet melody.  It either speaks to you, or it doesn't.

I just bought the rope...now what do I do...............{#Eek}
Nice.  Very nice.
I <3 Maria Taylor.
Can' carry a tune,,,,,,hurts my ears,,   {#Headache}

{#Shifty}....{#Sad}....{#Cry}

This band has some good songs but they're all so damn depressing...

Agreed.  I'm a girl and I listen to *plenty* of bands and solo artists that are male.  Why does a female solo have to be labelled as "girl music"?  What, guys aren't capable of listening to the opposite sex like I (and most other women) do?

i think is girls-musicÂ… i mean "music for girls".
Mysterious.
Pleasant... but not a song to play at 4:50pm (US East Coast) on a workday!
Admirable voice, decent guitar. But bit too sleepy for me.
This one still gets my attention whenever it comes on. . .
No, this just isn't cutting it.

More worthless blather about the word fuck. Open your mind and close your mouth. Its art, not politics.
She's leaving home bye bye.
excuse me, I seem to have misplaced my noose...
After the first time I heard this on RP, I bought two Azure Ray CDs. Thanks, Bill, for introducing me to music I would not otherwise have heard
I can hear a "Behind Blue Eyes" resemblance here

I dont know, there's some good alliteration there. And its more angst/confused/angry that "fouled"...

Hauntingly beautiful. Anyone who objects to the type of language that songwriters use, really needs to find something more productive to do with their time.

Every word in this song is perfect. Most excellent understated and harmonic delivery of words that could go just as easily to a metal tune. Therein lies the art I appreciate.
Oh yea! I like that!
A moving song. Sure it's not happy-clappy and cheerful and full of the joys of Spring, but it does what most good music does - puts across emotion from singer to listener.
Well here's to the life of the party! Shit lady cheer up.. cripeys ay mate!
Her voice is a gentle wind blowing through the forest. F'in georgeous.
Caffeine and adrenaline could not even fix this snoozathon...

Thanks, farquwaar for being "that jack*ss" that screws up the page width by posting a totally useless comment. BTW, this song reminds me of that Adidas commercial that was out awhile back where the guy was having a crazy dream sequence. https://www.boardsmag.com/screeningroom/commercials/1586/

Yes, I tend to be over analytical.
I totally agree and I dont think you are over analytical. You are defending freedom of speech from religious intolerance. Give way to the zealots today on the words we can use to communicate, and tomorrow they will be shooting tennis players for wearing shorts. Oh sorry, they already are...
Correct me if I'm wrong but you mean that you don't need the f-bomb in there to get her point. That doesn't mean she didn't need it there as an expression of what she was trying to say. Shut up, you f-bomb Baby_M. ~David Cross sorry, i hadda do it. The word dysfunctional wouldn't have worked in the song. Do you have something better?

Wow. Ethereal, with a slam of reality at the end.

Arg! Breathy voice! It burns us! -David
this song just killed my "Sonic Youth" rush of thrill.
yeah, yeah, haunting and all that stuff. i know good music, art, literature, and movies are all supposed to illicit an emotional response. This does that (pretty well it seems), but I don't want to feel like this.
I'm hearing a little Amanda Kravat and Marry Me Jane here.
big thumbs down
I'm slipping into a deeeeeep and irreversible coma..................................
I really like it alot. I saw them like last year, i forget who they were with...it was awesome. Mellow but not this sad. I still like this song. AlanCE wrote:

This makes me want to put myself in a drunken stooper, which is BAAAD
Man this is feeling like the Pain hour Please I have had my fill
Makes me sleepy. I will check back in when they are playing interesting music once more.
Part of me wants to like this... part of me wants to throw up. I think the best solution is to hang on till the end and hope for something that doesn't cause ambivalence...
Wow! As a new user, I'm sure I'll become a bit more jaded as I continue to listen, but I'd rate this track really highly. Beautiful!!

Rather nice, but should have been sung by a guy. The singster sounds like every other serious broad I hear here on RP.
...I have to say...I like the atmospheric stuff alot...especially late at night... S.
I do like this, but it seems to be in heavy rotation. Kind of dims the pleasure a bit. :?

Anyone know more about the album? I think this one is going on the 'must buy' list.
