I think the artist is much more than her wonderbra. I've been listening to Bif for more than a decade now, and she's pretty good, when she rocks out. She's been in the rather tiny Canadian punk scene for a long time, and working damn hard. maybe her and her publicist have decided that she can no longer live on punk cred, and need to get her some cash. I for one am going to resist judging her by this cover, which I'm not impressed with, and see what else she has to say on this album. mrrmt wrote:
so i went to her website to give her a chance....eh...I don't know. when i am intrigued by hearing an artist first and then find out they are somewhat banking on their bodies/looks to get by I can forgive it...if i find the music interesting. I found her music (at least the cover here and the song on her site) to be lame and then seeing all of the shots of her in her undies/miracle bra to be so...needy? Hopefully it was just her publicist that encouraged it and the artist is more than this dismal coversong and her rather predictable image. She has an interesting backstory.

Musically, it sounds EXACTLY the same as the original metallica version. It offers nothing NEW except for the whinny teenybopper girl voice which basically sounds like me singing this in the shower when I was 13 and went through my metallica phase. GRRRRR! ewww. pleh!
Right on! This blows!
I liked it...Analyzing why music is played and whether it is appropriate are what these comments tend to be about, but my two cents, are that it is an enjoyable peice of music that doesn't get in the way or is distracting by any means.
Hmmm... Wonder what the record is for most comments from one play of a song?
It's freakin Metallic not not chic music. Didn't anyone learn from Sheryl Crow's mistake of doing GNR covers?
Why not just play some actual Metallica on RP?
Biff is a fantastic song writer, her performances are outstanding and she's one helluva person to boot ! this just doesn't do her justice.
I've heard of her before... didn't id that as a Metallica cover right away. That changes things a bit... it's definitely a bit straightforward of a cover. In terms of processed music, I prefer unique covers rather than 'honest to the original' covers. Actually, I think I still give it a 5.

can metallica have actually sanctioned this?
Got me clicking on the artist website... interesting lass
We're OK with this made-for-ClearChannel pap but we're too cool for Sheryl Crow? C'mon, Bill.

Interesting to hear Metallica covered by.... ummm.... well, what is she, exactly? Is she a prepackaged "straight down the middle" one-shot like a Christina Aguilera? Does she have any talent? Hard to say. You know Metallica was losing its metal cred when it started coming out with ballads like this one. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. Just is.
Wow. I'm surprised (and not) that RP folks haven't heard of Bif Naked. She had a minor hit w/ "Moment of Weakness", and she was also featured on a fourth season episode of Buffy ;)
Very straight forward cover; not horrible, but completely uninspired. I've never heard of her but at least an original song would be better to hear for the first time, you know?
crap.
Pretty much an A to A cover with a female vocalist. She had some middling popularity in Canada, not sure about the US. Anyway, it's not a bad cover, just not very original, probably one of the better tracks from latter Metallica though.
I'm not sure this was necessary.
Bif. LOL. choice name.
I'm scared of her!
i'm pretty sure the only thing that could make this song worse is if the album art were a naked Biff (from Back to the Future (of any age))

I'm having trouble deciding whether it's intelligent or stock neo-emo. The instrumentation is a bit too canned to really appeal to me, too many predictable power chords and transitions. So far, I'd say it's passable.

did we really need a cover of this crap?
Well, actually. I've decided I don't like it because it's nothing but a woman's voice instead of a mans over the song... otherwise it's just Metalica's version... an actual cover might have have been kinda cool.
I have to say there are a few Bif Naked songs that would be better here than this pretty straight-forward cover.
?
i heard metallica went soft, but this is extreme.
not necessary.
Is this some kind of stripper-gone-singer?
LOL OMG WTF!?!?!? bill u better follow this up with some metallica ;)
did we really need a cover of this crap?
oh my.
Wow... Like this song, but not sure about this...
Odd.
