Oh love love you tear my world apart
Oh love love you always break my heart
It's been too long since you left me
It's been too long since the start
Oh love love please don't break my heart

Oh love love you always bring me down
Oh love love you turn my life around
Oh I don't know how to tell you
Oh I don't know what to say
But my heart is yours love in every single way

And at night I sit and cry it seems
Wondering why love is not like my dreams
Wondering why I am still here all alone
And at night I wish that you were there
Touching my face and stroking my hair
Telling me things, telling me stories
Telling me you love me in all my glory

Love love you're always in my heart
Oh love love I've known it from the start
Oh I wish that I could tell you
Oh I wish that I could say
That my heart is yours like in every single way

And at night I sit and cry it seems
Wondering why love is not like my dreams
Wondering why I am still here all alone
And at night I wish that you were there
Touching my face and stroking my hair
Telling me things, telling me stories
Telling me you love me in all my glory

Love love I wish that I could see
What in the world you mean to me
Oh love love you always bring me down down down
Oh love love I wish you'd stick around

The only thing going for this song is the intro. Which is a blatant rip off of Iggy Pop's Real Wild Child (Wild One). After that it's 2 - Marginal. At best.

Look, she's a cutie, with a decent voice, and even if it's more "peppy" than the typical RP song, it's short and sweet, which is more than I can say for some of the songs that drone on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and which some of the same folks who dismiss this song, think the latter amazing ... just because it's old and established. Nah.

It's so middle of the road she has white lines down the middle of her back.
I LOVE this song!!!!!!{#Bananajam}

Good point.  Maybe some folks want to dismiss anything "peppy" or "poppy" (gasp!) unless it's old and established.
No thanks...

It's fun! It's hard to tell how good her voice on a first listen of a carefully managed sound but this ain't bad. A "7", I'm thinkin'.

Her eyebrows are quite something...like ice picks!

Peregrin, your link to Plastic Bertrand is kaput. Try this one:

Well now, Amy has a pleasant voice, vaguely reminiscent of a younger Annie Lennox, decent writing skills and is much prettier than Angelina Jolie even pre pout-enhancement. None of which Justin Bieber can lay claim to, yet he is world famous and Amy just carries on. As she should..
I agree with Stingray.  Not that that means this music doesn't have it's place but in the grand scheme of things her music comes across as the product of musical, technical, lyrical and emotional naivety.  It's like it's written by a 14 year old for 14 year olds.  That's not really a crime but it's not for me.  What she has to show in the future is proper development in all aspects of song writing.

I get part of what you mean (her songs do tend to be quite 'simple' structurally) but I think you are being a little unfair in the sweeping judgement regarding talent (especially the amateurish bit) without any context. The style of music she writes/plays falls into a very archetypal West of Scotland folk-rock sound, which does tend to have very open structure and a sort of simple/singalong melodic quality. Complex metaphors need not apply, it's all about directly stating your lyric and not being coy about it. She's successful because this sort of big, open sound is popular and people like to hum a clear melody in a relatively unfussy backdrop. It might seem dreadfully simple, but I think the "simpleness" of the final sound is deceptive in terms of what goes in to its construction.

Amy Macdonald is a very solid guitarist, a strong singer and is usually the sole writer on her material - she's also a very strong live performer. You might not like her stuff but it's not really that hard to grasp why others might like her. I can't say I like all her output on a personal level, but she really isn't lacking in talent as a performer.

Hello Ween - what's up, Cynaerann? Trying to teach me a lesson? In journalism, maybe? Relax, Ann-Mom - don't take stuff too serious! Neither my comments on music, nor my silence to affectionate PM's! I know you love me. You said it repeatedly, taking cover behind the police-chief in you village.

Whatever she does sounds like a schoolband in their first year!

TERRIBLE!

Mr. "trained journalist" - please shut up now. You're breaking every rule of journalism (the first being "Never make personal judgements  regarding the subject about which you are writing.")  Of course, you already knew that, and you're not posting in the capacity of "journalist" when you post here.  Still, you risk losing credibility as a trained journalist when you write things like the above. If I had read your comment, not knowing that you are a professional, I would immediately discount you as a valid source for any information, musical or otherwise.

Also - remember that the various boards send "spores" to other boards. A journalist with savvy would never jeopardize his/her credibility by stooping to drop a snide, grammatical and punctuation-incorrect comment in a well-populated forum.

This woke me up nicely.{#Bananajam}

I think she's very talented and her (Official) video for Spark was superb, imo.
But still, it's a good thing we're all different... just what RP caters for!

Dislike all she does in the field of music!
More than a dislike, actually...
Pretty eyes, though!
Very fun! Like this a lot! Never heard of her before. Thanks, RP, for introducing me to another great artist.

She was way more popular in Germany than in Scotland before she got one or two international "hits" that put her on the map.

Good tune.  I have a soft spot for female vocalists. . .even if this is a little "poppy" for my taste.

I expect to see this in the next English/Irish/Scottich love comedy... ala Love Actually, Four Weddings and A Funeral, Waking Ned Devine, etc.

Nice little toe tapper... {#Smile}

Hello gorgeous!!

and I don't care who knows it.
Amy, when is your American tour going to happen?
Nice segue from Summer's Cauldron! That song goes right into another (Grass) on the record, so I felt a bump coming, but it was actually very smooth.
Nice face, what a voice, fun tune!
Sounds like the Scottish Poe.

Amy Macdonald @ Rock in Rio - Lisboa, May 29th 2010

——————————————————————————————————————————

Amy MacDonald - Mr Rock & Roll, Live Lisbon (2010)

Amy MacDonald, Scottish female singer - Mr Rock And Roll (Live At Rock In Rio Lisboa 29-05-2010).

" Amy, 22 years old, great stage presence, excelent voice, sobriety, personality and at the same time, sympathy with the public.
Amy may in future become a great artist, natural talent, and having a rare thing these days, that is to get onstage live, the same performance, in fact even better than the recorded disk.
I hope she to continue working to correct, true to itself but without making concessions to ease, and not be dazzled by the first success, which is always momentary and passes in an instant. There are around another 10 or twenty "Amy's" ready and willing to occupy a place in the Sun...
The band members accompanying the Amy in live performances this summer of 2010, are young, but are very dedicated, very committed, very good performers and can form a single block, together with Amy.
It is notable positive development and the progression from first to second album, more mature and prepared, I think. "

Or "Crawling From the Wreckage." Dave Edmunds and Rockpile did some really wonderful stuff back in the day...

Dang - this song just motivates me maybe to change the sheets on my bed and plant some tomatoes... (No, don't ask - I know it doesn't make sense to anyone but me...) {#Dancingbanana_2}
Every time this song starts I perk up - which can be a very good thing at work.  My main consideration, however, is that I have purchased more than one CD after hearing a song on RP and found that the song played on RP is the only stellar song on the whole disc.  Has anyone heard any other songs from this CD?  I don't want to purchase another one and find I only really like the one song.  Thanks in advance to whomever.  :)
The opening bars remind me of the song Understanding Jane by Icicle Works...
I was thrilled to hear Amy on RP tonight. Something I have to love about her and all her music
There's just something about this woman I really like.  The upbeat and positive energy of what I've heard of her work makes me happy.
Fun.
I like this song and her pseudo assertive drive!
Yuck.

Reminds me of Mila Jovovich, haven't heard anything like her since the 90's. I fell in love with her voice and even watched her movies, though the Fifth Element is still a perennial favorite of mine.
One of those tunes that just grabs you from the first note! {#Dancingbanana_2}

I Love, Love the magical admixture of zippy tempo, rollicking retro J.L. Lewis barrelhouse keyboards, chunky guitar, and her gorgeous, rich, vocals! My new current favorite song - thanks, Bill!!!

Amy's very much flavour of the month in Scotland the now - I heard her frequently on the radio whilst up there this Easter, and she's getting a lot of favourable Press. A fine voice with room for growth, and a good songwriter. One to watch.

same thing... had it playing in the background, but likin' it a lot
Had this playing in the background while I worked. . . all the while wondering what was annoying me so much. Didn't really Love Love the Love Love. Nice eyes but boring music.
Meh. 4
Wow, really really nice.
