She says it helps with the lights out
Her rabid glow is like Braille to the night
She swears I'm a slave to the details
But if your life is such a big joke, why should I care?

The clock is set for nine
But you know you're gonna make it eight
That you two can take some time
Teach each other to reciprocate

She feels that my sentimental side should be held with kid's gloves
But she doesn't know that I left my urge in the icebox
She swears I'm just prey for the female
Well, then hook me up and throw me, babycakes, 'cause I like to get hooked

The clock is set for nine
But you know you're gonna make it eight
All the people that you've loved
They're all bound to leave some keepsakes

I've been swinging all the time
Think it's time I learned your way
Picture you and me together in the jungle
It will be okay

I'll bring you when my lifeboat sails through the night
That is, supposing that you don't sleep tonight

It's like learning a new language
Helps me catch up on my mime
If you don't bring up those lonely parts
This could be a good time
It's like learning a new language
You come here to me
We'll collect those lonely parts and set them down
You come here to me

She says brief things
Her love's a phony
My love's subliminal
She says brief things
Her love's a phony
My love's subliminal

One of Interpol's most lyrically impressive songs. Very vivid imagery.

This means horny in Dutch..... I like the song too, but not that much ;)

With a little Nick Cave sprinkled in for good measure.
This album blew me away when it first came out.  Paul Banks vocals perfectly fit the music imo.  Just a fantastic album for me.  Thanks for playing songs off of it, RP.

I'd rather hear NYC from this great CD, but this one is good too.

If someone would ask me what in your opinion is the best song ever made about NYC, I would name this song by Interpol.

Unfortunately NYC is not on the RP-playlist while 6 other tracks from this CD are.
Well, that was poetic.  I'd prefer to hear "her love's a pony".
yep. hits the spot.

He's definitely channeling Mr. Mojo Risin', to be sure.

See, there's a slight difference between Jim and the guy who sings for Interpol. Jim could sing.

Either Jim or his British vocal twin, Ian Curtis

Listen a bit closer pal.it could not be Jim the almighty.

Its the Doors, I always knew that Jim wasn’t really dead!

Curious choice for a song name, as Leif Erikson was the medieval Viking explorer who discovered North America half a millennium before that Italian upstart Christopher Columbus. As far as I can hear, the lyrics have bubkes to do with Erikson, but maybe I'm not listening closely enough.
I am sad. This song has absolutely nothing to do with Leif Erikson.

LOL this has been bugging me too.  I keep checking to see if it will be fixed.  I am sure it will be.  I have never seen it before.  It's a bug.

Obviously it's not a bug, but a feature. Still, I'm personally hurt that my upload attracts such a low rating {#Wink}

To me it's a solid 9, both music and lyrics-wise. Favorite lines:

"She says it helps with the lights out
Her rabid glow is like braille to the night."

"She feels that my sentimental side should be held with kid gloves
But she doesn't know that I left my urge in the icebox."

I see that the playlist now has the correct rating (6.6), so we can both stop worrying and get to sleep tonight!

The math is really off for this song's rating. First of all, the screen says that 8 people have rated it for an average rating of 4.1. But in checking the graph I count 5 ratings, for an overall rating of 6.6. Makes me wonder if I'd find other inaccurate ratings if I took the time to check. Oh, I really should get to work...
