Good to see you have agreed with the premise â if Biden is out of it, Trump surely would win a debate between them overwhelmingly. There is no doubt that a person suffering from dementia, to the point of appearing to be out of it, would not fare well in any debate.
Not coincidentally, Trump and his supporters have been providing a purported reason why Trump might not easily and overwhelmingly defeat Biden in a debate â Joeâs on drugs!
So after leaving comments here... I was presented with a link to this podcast.
NOTE: skip to about the 10 min. mark if you want to get to the interview, and not the pre-discussion ramblings.
Obama is the Alpha in the room, but when Biden interacts with the hosts (Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett)... he's thoughtful, lucid, and provides a level of insight.
I don't love the politics of these guys all the time, but it's refreshing to hear a conversation about issues and the difficulties in finding solutions. Trump is uniquely incapable of engaging in such focused and thoughtful conversation... he just complains, blames, and then uses superlatives to describe all of the great things he's going to do... without an ounce of detail or support.
If you want to have a debate, you should have real-time fact checkers supporting multiple hosts... who can revisit any statement made previously with a sort of "rebuttal". Mr. Biden...you said this, yet the numbers say that...please explain. Mr. Trump, you said this...but the facts are ..., please respond. That level of detailed information would never be acceptable to Trump.
We had a moderator intervene on behalf of Obama during one of his debates with Romney and actually made a false fact check claim on behalf of Obama and it turned out to be a game changer against Romney, IIRC.
Biden will say that the border was secure and under control during his tenure. And that is the party line as well as the legacy media narrative which has supported Biden the entire time. Trump will say that it is wide open and was during Biden's term. And nearly everyone here will also agree that the border was secure under Biden. Few believe that there is anything such as an illegal immigrant / alien even though that is the legal term in our law.
Yet we know that 11 million people have entered illegally under Biden.
No, if you can't respect the rules for a debate and communicate like and adult, you shouldn't be running for the role of leader of the government. That should be the standard.
So knowing that there is zero chance Trump would ever act like an adult... why debate him?
Not a single viewer would learn anything, and the personal biases of the viewers would only reinforce their frustration with the other candidate.

If Biden is out of it, as you and others claim, Trump should have no trouble winning a debate with him overwhelmingly. I mean, if you canât win a debate overwhelmingly against an opponent with dementia, what does that say about you? We shall see if a lie is exposed or a truth is confirmed. I see chickens coming home to roost.
2 things...
The Right continues to set the bar so low, that Joe looks very good on stage. 60% of the State of the Union viewers thought Joe did well. He's always been deliberate and boring as a speak, but the right wants to say he's senile. He's no more senile than Trump (note that Kurt ignores the facts posted about this below... doesn't fit the cult narrative, ignore and repeat approved rhetoric).
Maybe more importantly, why bother? Nothing Trump will say is going to be based on reality or fact. He'll interrupt everything, he'll avoid any real answers, and he'll whine about how the system is rigged to get him. Trump won't "mop up anything" as Kurt suggests...it will just be 90 minutes of noise. There will be no debate.

I would also not debate with Trump unless you can shut off his microphone when he's not answering a question.
It's amusing to see the guy who avoided all of the Republican debates now talking about how important they are.
I did. And my money is on dementia, too. Cannibals ate his uncle. Reads stage directions from the teleprompter out loud. Shaking hands with invisible people. Doesn't know which way to go when leaving a stage. Easter Bunny has to keep him on task. Kiddie stairs on Air Force One. Escorts from Marine One to shield him from view walking across the lawn to and from the WH. The list just keeps on growing.

First, nobody paying attention thinks he has dementia. Old and slower, sure, that’s a given along with political expertise and equanimity.
Second, let’s have a quick show of hands of who is going to bother to click on your link. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

The complaints about Joe Biden have been more vague â citing his advanced age, physical fragility and occasional mixing up of names. But there is no evidence of dementia onset, no âsun-downing,â no reports from staff or cabinet members that he is failing to stay on top of legislative or international issues. This in contrast to Trump whose cabinet at the end of his term considered invoking the 25th amendment.
