It's usually just lighted in one color, white mostly. Every hour it kind of sparkles. Right now, the real Tower is lighted in the tricolor of their flag.

Of course I viewed it as an attack as I don't know this person from Adam and it certainly doesn't look like an attempt at humor to me.

I didn't post that thing on France to look for a troll response. I stumbled across it and even if only some of it was true I was sad to see that happening there. And I found other articles that backed at least some of it up. I used to go to France when I worked for Motorola to train people in the Toulouse plant in the late 70's and 80's. I really liked it there and one of the guys I met there was into old cars like me and I ended up shipping him my '59 Peugeot which he completely restored and send me pics of his process of doing it.

Sorry Dave.

As usual around here, the messenger is more looked at than the message.

It explains so much ... closed minds and all ...

If you'd started with the article from The Independent, you probably would have been taken more seriously.

The thing about France is that its citizens love their hard-won entitlements. Even if they cause budget deficits. The people who are leaving are the super-wealthy (and it's really hard to get super-wealthy in France) and those who want to start companies, but are stymied by French labor laws (although those have been softened in recent years in order to encourage entrepreneurship). There's also a culture of fear there, which I am not sure how to explain without writing a treatise.

Now, Richard, why would you want to go clouding the issue with facts? I don't think Dave will be able to take that. I mean, he seems to consider Pat Robertson to be a reliable source of information.

PS: Some are rich and well-educated (thus with ample opportunities) like those French, but most movers, in general, are not.

Most of these well-off French are reported to go to Switzerland, the UK and Germany. While Switzerland is a known tax haven (see various celebrities moving there), the latter two are definitely not.
