It depends very much on the style of music and the way it needs to be performed. James Brown, sitting in a chair, wouldn't have been appreciated, but seeing (hearing) him perform the last years of his life, mainly made me nostalgic about how it used to be. On the other hand, decline does have its charm (sometimes).

I saw B.B. King a few years ago, right around his 80th birthday. He sat down in a chair for nearly the entire show, bantered with the audience like the charming old man that he is, and politely rocked everyone's freaking faces off. He's 85 now, and I'd go see him again in a heartbeat.

I think artists should have the right to perform and record as long as they are able and people are willing to purchase product. Now whether they should retire is up to personal opinion and there is no right or wrong answer. Personally I think there are a lot of artists that should retire not because I want to take away their right to create as they wish, but because they are ruining their legacy and sometimes it just gets to be plain ol' tacky. Kinda like wearing white in winter or something.

To be clear, I don't think that artists should just retire at a certain age, that was just the name of this old thread I picked up. I just think that PS's new stuff is crap, that is all I was saying.
