UPDATE:
We've collected about a third of what we need already! This is great but on the other hand the donations will really slow down now so we have to work 3 times as hard. We've been getting some great support from a lot of RP folks - none at all from my family (they have they're own issues, I guess) - and a lot from people we don't even know that well. One of my clients chipped in a grand! It brought tears to my eyes. Some people are just ... different.
My next plan is to follow up on some people connections I made with a couple autistic service organizations who help locate "housing" - not sure exactly what that means, but we'll find out. It looks like we're actually going to get some real medical coverage with the new health act. California has some amazing options. Today we're going to walk around to the local churches and staple up tear sheets in those areas. We'll also do the health services facilities and hospitals, etc. The main thing is to keep is to keep this chugging around social media. I really wish I knew more about it or been able to get a social media expert to help - that's where all the action's at, I think.
Again, we thank everybody for their amazing generosity and support. Never in my life have I experienced such friendship and caring. Nor even in my own family. CHeers to you all, except you-know-who!
