Anyone, caught in your mystery
Keep it angry
Keep it whispy
I've fallen down
Drunk on your juices

I
Turn my head
Turn my head
It's aimed at you

Funky temple
Your dress is torn to shreds
Your eyes are crazy
I bowed to save my head and
I can't forget you
But I can remember

I
Turn my head, turn my head
It's aimed at you
Turn my head, turn my head
It's aimed at you, baby, baby

Oh no, we came to love you
All day these bastards are leavin'
Somebody's go to stay
Whatever we called you
It's just a name
Just a name

Turn my head, (turn my head)
Turn my head
It's aimed at you

Turn my head, (turn my head)
Turn my head
It's aimed at you
It's aimed at you
Ahh...

Lol, no. It's the other way.

Way more love on here than I would have imagined for this band...was expecting the typical "commercial crap" roast, but instead plenty of positive stuff...

Unexpected....
One of the stupidest band names ever, but a decent band, with a couple decent songs. They all tend to sound the same though. This one's in the meh category.

Agreed, their first album is incredible, their best IMHO.

Completely agree. I happen to know the person who found them in a bar and he shared a 3 song sample with me at the very beginning and on first listen I knew these guys had something special - and that became Mental Jewelry - amazing album!
Great tune, from a great album, –the pinnacle of their catalog.

Mental Jewelry is one of my favorite albums as well. The music, the lyrics, the energy of it all...it really captured a lot of feelings and emotions I was having as an adolescent (and still to this day).
Love, Love , Love!   Simple but powerful!!
As another poster mentioned, these guys used to play Chameleon in Lancaster PA quite a lot. There were a few bands from that era that were standouts, namely Innocence Mission and Ocean Blue. It's always good to hear these bands on RP. Thank you!
 reminds me of that famous rock ballad by Poison that I don't remember the name of. . {#Mrgreen}
Could definitely hear more Live on RP.... but this one is not a real stand out IMHO.
I will always love this one.
I think I listened to Throwing Copper every single day in 1994/95. I loved that album. But this is absolute crap. What happened to them?
The most generic of the 90's alt-radio-rock.  Thank you Live, for smoothly passing the torch along to Creed and Nickleback.
I don't know.  Sounded a lot like bad R.E.M. to me.
Live got big out of the Chameleon Club here in Lancaster, PA. I've only seen them once, but I'm always amused to hear them and here's why. Ed Kowalczyk's father (also Ed Kowalczyk) was my high school newspaper advisor. His mother was a school secretary. I was at their wedding. I believe it was 1969. OK, that makes me old, just had to share that tidbit!

check out "throwing copper"...outstanding listen.........cant understand what has happened since

I haven't heard this song in forever! Thanks, Bill!

Great song. These guys need to get back to basics and release some new and original like the first three albums.

Absolutely agree with this sentiment.  I love this song...despite the "drunk on your juices" lyric.  Odd but then, this band, especially the lead singer is odd.  This tune almost brings a tear to the eye...and then the whole "juices" thing ruins it. {#Snooty}

Cheers,
Tim

"drunk on your juices"?  retarded.  i usually like these guys, but that's a terrible lyric

It seems to be their MO though. With lines like "her placenta falls to the floor" from Lightning Crashes, the above line is actually a bit tamer.

I love this album though.

Egad, that's an awful line!!!!! Makes me cringe. I can't believe that first the song writer thought that it was good, and then that everyone else in the band agreed.

hahaha! I was about to comment on that exact same lyric but saw your comment first.  I agree completely.  But I also don't like this band.

i love it when people beg for something "new and original" "like the first three albums..."  {#Ask}

first time I heard of them, they were playing a fraternity party on campus.

Wow, truly pathetic if this is a pinnacle! I'd hate to hear their low points.
Always kinda like this band. But, saw them live about 10 years ago...and the guitarist for this band, shall we say, sucks. Guy couldn't play a lick to save his life. Same droning chords over and over. Still, they write nice songs.
You know, I like Live so I probably shouldn't be complaining -- but this song is a little more Clear Channely than most of their stuff. . .
Good to hear more Live on RP lately.
More live would be welcome. Best served over-the-top.

Mental Jewelry and Throwing Copper are both awesome, deep albums that are best heard real loud. Crankin! Very energetic. Have them both and love them. Every album after that really sucks! This band went from really good to awful. Too bad.

It's embarrassingly dumb.
Pearl Jam and these guys are indirectly responsible for so much of the awful "isn't-my-macho-pain-gorgeous" rock that's in the mainstream now. Eddie Vedder and Live's singer are likewise the most imitated amongst the same crowd. It's not really fair to blame some musicians for the bad music of those they influenced. But it's awfully tempting.

Hell, make it STOP!

You are not alone. I don't get it as well whats so great about them. Reminds me of "Bush" so thats no coincidence I guess.
Beautiful... But what happens when we spell their name backwards?

I'm really not a big fan of Live (as people) at all. They are from my hometown (York, PA) and basically snubbed the entire area. First, dedicating a song entitled Shittown on Throwing Copper to York. They then would refuse to play there until after their debacle rap collaboration (with a guy named Tricky, I think?). The return was called a "Reunion Concert" but all they did was just hike up the prices to values they wouldnt've gotten anywhere else. Not appreciating your heritage is one thing, but walking over it is another.
Great Record, beautiful song, damn fine live show. Rock On!
Nobody except Sufjan Stevens is doing Christcentric music better than LIVE.
yum.

I still love "Lightening Crashes" as my favorite song from Live, but this one is nice. :nodhead:
I love his voice...
I went to a concert of theirs a few years ago... small venue, all standing, all by myself because no one else knew of them (I was probably the oldest concertgoer there!) Smoked a little number in the corner and proceeded to be blown away by one of the best intimate concerts I've ever seen. This song was the highlight for me. So intense. I LOVE LIVE!
You\'d think they invented the term \"angest.\" A little overblown maybe?

The new cd just came out last week. Great, amazing CD!!!! Purchase now!!! Its well worth the money.
I must be feelin\' grouchy this morning. I just keep thinking \"Moody Blues redux\".
Good song, sharp songwriting. Lets have some more Live music. Lucky me, I get to see them for free at Universal Studios on 2/22!

I'd extend that to say they're one of best rock bands of the current decade-- it's just that no one knows they're still out there. The fact that the best songs on their most recent albums haven't been released on radio (on this one, for example, my favorites are Gas Hed Goes West and Heropsycodreamer) have something to do with it. It suits me fine, though, It means I can see them in 1,000 seat venues instead of 20,000 seat venues. As for overdramatic comment, I guess that's a fair critisim, but much like film/theater, it's not so much how dramatic it is, but whether or not you find believable.

I couldn't agree more. This is not whiny. The guy has a good falsetto voice. Which should not be confused with whiny. You're right Counting Crows singer Adam Duritz(sp?) is King of whiny.
whoooo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
