Albert's always sincere, he's a sensitive type,
His intentions are clear, he wanna be well-liked,
If everything is nothing, then are we anything?
Is it better to be better than to be anything?
And Albert's vision is blooming uncontrolled,
All his wings are slowly sinking,
The world begins to disappear,
The worst things come from inside here,
All the king's men reappear,
For an eggman, fallin' off the wall,
Who'll never be together again.

Einstein's down on the beach staring into the sand,
'Cause everything he believes in is shattered,
What you fear in the night in the day comes to call anyway,
We all get burned as,
One more sun comes sliding down the sky,
One more shadow leans against the wall,
The world begins to disappear,
The worst things come from inside here,
And all the king's men reappear,
For an eggman, fallin' off the wall,
Who'll never be together again.
Albert's waiting in the sun on a field American,
For the cause of some inflated form of hit and run.

One more sun comes sliding down the sky,
One more shadow leans against the wall,
The world begins to disappear,
The worst things come from inside here
And all the king's men reappear
For an eggman, fallin' off the wall
Who'll never be together again.

Albert's fallen on the sun,
Cracked his head wide open,
The world begins to disappear,
The worst things come from inside here,
And all the king's men reappear,
For an eggman, fallin, fallin,
The world begins to disappear,
The worst things come from inside here,
And all the king's men reappear,
For an eggman, fallin' off the wall,
Who'll never be together again.

No never be together again,
No no never, never, never again, uh huh,
What you fear in the night in the day comes to call anyway.
Never, never, never again.

Apparently he liked wearing his wife's shoes. A nutty professor.

LOL! Too funny!
Because they cancelled concerts without notice, in Atlanta they were known as the Cancelling Crows in the 90s.

Now that you mention it...Why no Polyrock on RP...?-(

Don't get the hard-ons for hating Counting Crows. Seems exhausting!
This must have been a really good time in my life bc while I am not a fan of most pop music, I like this.  I'm really surprised how much it's hated.  But, I love my fellow R.P. Listeners anyway as this is the best station on the planet!  I started listening to R.P. in 2003 when this song was released.
Not sure why this band gets so much hate. Super talented musicians. Seems that once a band achieves some success, we like to tear them down.

Hey! I have that C.D.
In fact they got just a single album (August and ...) and never repeated.
More Nickelback please.
Mr. Jones is a great song. I don't think this is, though.

Thanks, but I need to bash this crappy band once more.
The American equivalent of Barenaked Ladies, but somehow worse.
Play the real E on the B, specifically Spaceship, dangit.
I still like it.
Unlikable melody, worse lyrics. Vocals?  Ugh.

Weren't they essentially the same band anyhow?  I guess it just seemed like it back then.

This may be my favorite song ever. How can anyone hate it? It's so upbeat! Piano fills! Organs!

I knew I'd find that comment somewhere amongst all the segue complaints.
This segue from radiohead to counting crows was in did evidence of the eclectic mix. It cant all ease one into the other, you have to change tempo and theme eventually.
It is a strange mix but I love both these artists so its ok with me...onwards!
Whoa a counting crows song with energy.

Haha, looks like Bill took the comments to heart and made you guys eat it up again ;) (--those saying ixnay to a radiohead -> counting crows transition) I kid, I kid. Honestly I think it's a nice change. Bravo.
Me likes me sum Counting Crowses!

Painful transition from Radiohead's sublime "Lucky". uck.

The first two CC albums were fantatstic. Both of them a big part of my life in the early to mid nineties. But they have lost the plot on the last couple. This is so obviously filler for a Greatest Hits package. Urrgh.......

It's not a contrast. It's irritating music on top of irritating music. Not all of us are Radiohead (retch!) fans.

Sorry, just can't like the Counting Crows. This entire set today is putting me to sleep. Time to change channels.
noooooo Oscar
Is there a player that can mute RP until the song is over? Could it create a black-list of songs to always mute?

UGHHHHHHH no more PLEASE....overplayed for too long...can't be redeemed.

I have to agree. He was annoying when they first released this song, and the fact that it has been overplayed just makes it worse. Enough!
This was an awesome CD at the time and still holds up pretty well. Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Weezer, Teenage Fanclub, That Dog, Beck, Counting Crows, The Sundays Amazing to think that all of these incredible artists were signed to the same record label. Would have liked to have seen a DGC Rarities, Vol. 2! :-( I wonder whatever happened to it??

I actually quite liked this band... but I bought their live album and I can't make out any tunes... it all seems to merge into one tuneless song. Maybe I need to listen more but anyways... I was suprised by your "fanastic live band" comment
Wow, I remember when this song came out I thought it was great, ran out and bought "August and Everything After" and was so dissapointed it wasn't on it. =<

I'll hold him down for you....
I can't help it, these guys are infectious.... but do all their lyrics have to reference other artists? (Isn't he referring to the Eggman from I Am the Walrus? Or am I hearing wrong? I wanna be like Bob Dylan!) It's understandable why they're so reviled here -- kind of like Young Rascals meet Spin Doctors, probably too "pop" oriented for all you Serious Rock Afficianados out there. But I like a little Pop with my Rock sometimes. Fizzes in your mouth, you know?

It's not his voice that I hate so much... it's the fact that every single song sounds like someone sat in front of protools, selected menu item "Tools". Then selected sub menu item "Generate Generic Pop Song". I don't mind pop, I really don't. But, it should at least bring something unique/fun/different to the table. Counting Crows do none of that.
Well put.

Worst... band... ever...
No way... I disagree with the nay-sayers (especially the puker... ). This band has it. Commercial? Only because they're great did they get so much play time. Varied tunes, and great lyrics. They rock and they roll and they serenade and they play the blues. More Counting Crows... lots more!!! Counting Crows... August And Everything After... Recovering The Satellites... shoot, think I'll download "Goodnight Elisabeth" and the rest of the CD to my iTunes right now. atticus P.S. Sorry for that display of tasteless and rude behavior.

CCs never did anything for me, but this track is quite enjoyable.
Great song froma good band! Also can't believe all the hate for CC! Come on...feel the love!
Poor ol' Adam Duritz ... if he sings a sad song he's a "whiner" and yet when he sings a happy song he's still reviled. Can't catch a break.
Make it even rarer...

wow. didnt expect all the negative comments. i've always enjoyed this one.

Great upbeat song. Not typical at all for the Crows at the time which is probably the reason it didn't make it on August. Just alot of fun to hear. Thanks RP :sunny.gif:
