"Stolen" he says... it's a song composed of samples, as much hip-hop is.

You are correct about Strange About Your Hands, but there's more, partial list here:

Yup - made me walk across the room to double check! Saw SW in Melbourne last year - a real treat and a full night.

For a second, I thought this might be a remix of Poe's "Dolphin", from her Hello album....

I firmly agree. Discovered RP in the early 2000's and have never listened to radio or any other station since. Everything I have on my iPhone or on iTunes has come from this station or the forums or links I followed from a song to other artists.

I could live with either presidential candidate, as long as I have RP in my life. Long Reign RP!!!
Opening bars caught my attention - thought I heard a whiff of PT style and then continued to listen in... great mood music. Thanks RP

He's a bit more eclectic than that, but if you had to pigeon-hole him, that would be a reasonable label.  If yo haven't, try to see a live show.  He's very diverse, and brings a proper skills based performance in this day and age of DJs who are all style and no substance.

Love the Shadow. More (anything?) from Endtroducing would be ace too. Or, dare I suggest (it's long, but awesome), the "What does your soul look like" EP.

I probably don't know your specific cousins over here, but plenty of people get this sort of dance/trance stuff on the western side of the Atlantic - DJ Shadow is from California.  I think a lot of RP's listeners (or at least the ones who post comments) don't care for trance, trip-hop, and electronica - it doesn't sound like that 1960s and '70s music (i.e., Classic Rock) that many of them seem to regard above all else.  It seems like it's largely a generational thing in the US - who knows?
This would be a lot better if it went somewhere.
A song and artist I first heard on RP . . . a song I now own.

Amazing how that happens, eh?
Awesome! Good to hear DJ Shadow on RP. <3 the Shadowsphere!!
Love this so much!!

This cousin totally gets it jools, but you're so right about us!  We need you Bill!

Shadow's a talented guy, but I fear that he peaked with Endtroducing.
man, this is bad.

Hopefully we'll be back to the music soon....

Monotony must be the theme tonight.

Reggae is fine for coding. Sometimes I even find myself in the mood for classics (Mahler, Mozart) while I'm coding (C#).
He rules doesn't he? Midnight in a Perfect World What is that?
i was just thinking yesterday how much i miss hearing Shadow lately. thanks bill.
I'm not getting "Mongrel's or makers" here..

How many damn times did they repeat that riff! 1/10. Must be more more inventive!
Quite good.

Thanks for your reply on the question, 'who the heck is Mongrel?' Deadline, though it's "a little" (three years after I asked that question) belated

I find it quite boring; what,what... and play no video games, by the by. I would classify this as noise and not music.
It never ends! Over and over! Argh! It's like a 6/8 techno Phillip Glass. Please, no more!
This has got to be on some soundtrack, somewhere... otherwise, where to file it?
Wait a second, I just realized that this is not Porcupine Tree...
Awesome, just awesome.
usually any 'artist' that has "DJ" or "MC" in their name is an absolute SuckFest waiting to happen....but DJ Shadow proved me wrong this time....
Lunch and this. I now need a nap.

Actually, I'm quite fond of DJ Shadow. And while this isn't one of my most favorite tracks (Uptown Bollywood Nights probably holds that honor), however it's still got a bit of chair-dance quality.

I thought my computer had contracted a cookie from somewhere and was playing me the Bougyes Telecom ad. Or maybe it's the Gaz de France one. Parce que le monde bouge. French will understand.

Shadow is one of the most talented DJs of all time and has pushed the boundries of hip hop and electronic music to some awesome levels. If you dig any DJs you should delve a little deeper into this guys stuff. If you dislike all DJs then give it a miss, along with all the other innovative and exciting hiphop/electronic music that's been released in the last few decades. Your loss.

Agreed. I respect the right of that other guy not to like this but his criticism didn't make any sense and makes me think he doesn't give this music a fair go. More Shadow and UNKLE!
I suddenly feel really anxious after that
Yeah! Go Mongrel! Woo! Nah, Mongrel totally ate it. Still, WOO!

i'm with you, man... the newest album is great stuff, but i'd still love to hear a lot of the tracks from Preemptive and Endtroducing. High Noon and Organ Grinder come to mind. either way, i'm glad to hear any shadow in the mix here at RP. check out his website - click here - for some videos, more audio, etc. Shadow is the man. i know what you mean buddy. why would they reject his early stuff? and whats with the ignorance here, shadow is only the grandfather to hip-hop and single-handedly shaped it to what it is. i suppose RP listeners could give a shit about about that. what i would give to hear flat out hip-hop on RP.

I was listening, and I was awake. Then this song came on. Then I started drifting, drifting, eyelids heavy... closing... Then the song ended and I woke right up. File under 'S' for sleep aides.

i once read a dj shadow interview where he said that everytime he went into a record store and saw his album 'Endtroducing' in the electronic section, he'd move it to the hip hop section.
