Take care of her, shelter her, feed her, protect her
Like a wife, love her
Just like a woman, the same as the ocean
closevolume_off
Where only boats can sail
She doesn’t need to fall
Don’t make her fall

Whatever you do, make sure you are capable of doing it
When you get to a point where your performance is poor,
Your knowledge and your abilities are dwindling,
Know your limitations

She doesn’t need to fall
Don’t make her fall
If she tells you to
Will you let her go?
Gives you all you need
Take this advice from me

After serious consideration, you want to change
After serious consideration, you want to change
So you think, and look back
Know what your duties are and respect them
Let it be know, that the survival of every relationship
Is based upon mutual help and assistance
Let it be know, it’s the same as a woman
The same as the ocean where only boats can sail
When you get to a point where your performance is poor
Your knowledge and your abilities are dwindling,
Know your limitations

She doesn’t need to fall
Don’t make her fall
If she tells you to
Will you let her go?
Gives you all you need

Awesomely  beautiful. Beautifully Awesome.
His voice, his passion, his music ... be still my heart!  TY Radio Paradise for placing this lovely human being on your rotation
One of fhe most beautiful songwriters and singers
Great vocals and a really enjoyable track. Senegal has produced some great artists: Orchestra Baobab has produced some wonderful music from Dakar. Coumba and Soldadi from Pirates Choice are very accessible to Western ears and are magnificent tracks
I kinda think this is what Peter Gabriel was/is going for with his vocal stylings.
Stunning.

Love this!
This is the best song of the week, really smashing the face. Genius singer.

Two sites claim these are the English translation of this song's lyrics, including

I'm very "lyrics oriented" when listening to popular music. One of the many great features of RP has always been easy access to the lyrics for songs. I am delighted to be able to move my rating from 8 to 9 for this jewel!

I really love this song. I just wish i knew what he was singing. I'm sure it would add something to my love...I hope.
If you ever have the opportunity to see Youssou, take it! I've seen him a dozen times - one of the world's best performers. What an extraordinary voice, what an extraordinary soul.

Solid 10. And yeah, I've thanked RP enough times, but not enough times - we're getting all kinds of music that we'd probably never hear or even know of in whatever other life we live. I come here to tap into everything I don't get in my normal life.

I guess that makes all us RPeeps abnormal - in a good way. Note how I didn't use that group-hug emoticon. rtfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffc c c c c c c c c c c c (Um, everything after the word "emoticon" was my cat on the keyboard. I'm leaving it because, well, he deserves to be heard, too, right?)

I prolly better shut up now.

Nobody writes like Cynaera any more. {#Cry}  RIP Anne.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm having a hard time understanding the lyrics on this one.
Real Good
You can hear Mr. N'Dour on Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes". Outstanding voice!
Once again RP introduces me to another artist that expands my world view! Love it! {#Sunny}

Must be world music day today on RP. Not complaining.
Hmm, interesting. This guy is going to run for President of Senegal.

This why RP rules.......it's called music.

'Kinell! RP listeners sure do get around and have interesting lives {#Clap}

This is the first Youssou N'Dour song I've liked, mainly because of the big instrumental sound. Usually his voice gets on nerves, though that's my problem as he is an international artist of major stature. 7 from the Nottingham jury.
...this song is, i think, the standard-bearer for an absolute solid seven...
that's YOO-soo, Bill... not YOU-so{#Wink}

Nope. Nothing can compare. Back as usual.  RP is 99.97% excellent. Thanks for your kindness, Glockman.

I haven't been monitoring it ridiculously closely in all honesty, but from what I've read the fires are quite unpredictable. So its hard to say what is happening. I imagine they would have to be updating those fire maps almost hourly for it to be accurate....

Just googled this: https://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/california/la-me-fires9-2008jul09,0,6737781.story : "The 38,000-acre blaze in Butte County jumped a fire line, forcing the evacuation of at least 1,000 residents in Paradise, 90 miles north of Sacramento." Bill and Rebecca, are you okay?
This is great. Too bad about the closed minded nay sayer kids down there.

...oh man, if you haven't heard his album coono du reer yet (er, i think its english title might be nothing's in vain?), you absolutely must - the senegalese percussion leaves your jaw on the floor to be scraped up with a shovel afterwards...amazing stunning talent therein...
goovin groovy.

Love this!
I hear Eleanor Rigby DNA This guy is great.
I went to Gambia a couple of times, and this is the style of music they have there (Youssou comes from Senegal, which is nearby). I love it!
Sounds like they recorded him, and then reversed the playback for this recording. !dreiw sdnuos
sucks like all hell!

I get the opposite feeling from his voice. It's quite soothing to me - delicate and powerful at the same time. For the record, I hate the sound of nails on a chalkboard. This song followed a Beth Orton tune this morning, and her gives me that irrtating feeling. To each his own, I suppose.
I completly agree! You should check out his work with Peter Gabriel on the soundtrack for "The Last Temptation Of Christ". It is amazing!!

I don't know what it is but his voice and vocal styling just bugs the heck out of me. I always turn this guy down. Sort of the feeling I get scratching my nails on a chalk board........

Excellent, I love this. Not only is the music on RP fantastic, but getting a top notch, ever expanding education in all things musical besides. Can't be bad.
Worth my monthly contribution, for sure! Good music at work, and an education to boot!
So psyched to hear this! I just saw him at the Montreal Jazzfest Finale night accompanying the Cirque de Soleil! He is just SO majestic and regal and spirited. His voice just rang out in the streets, where they say there were 100,000 of us listening. Imagine! The clarity of this voice resonating, ehcoing into all those ears. Yeowsah.
I like hearing the song sung in two different languages, plus a soaring melody and great beat.
I like him since I first heard him on the Bran Van 3000 album. Great song, very powerful. I also like that senegalese accent.

Thank you \"coldatlantic\", both for the upload and the lyric. This is very lovely, subtle yet focussed and very powerful. Would have liked it even without fully understanding it.

So, this is Youssou N\'Dour. Read a lot about him, never heard him before. Very interesting. Like it. Now, where else are you going to hear this guy, who is one of the major musicians in the world over the last 20 years or so? RP is the wave of the future.
