Reminds me of XTC (the band).
That's not bad.
Any Bob Mould or Sugar song gets at least an 8 from this RP listener
How could this be rated 6.5? Crank it up!

Where are those guys knocking RP for not playing Mould (okay, specifically Husker Du)? Though I admit that I would love to hear some HD too...as well spoonful of Sugar. Definitely a favorite Uncle to Grohl and the Foos.

I'm not knocking RP, but Copper Blue is a fantastic album from start to finish and it is just crazy that there isn't a single track from it in the RP catalog.

Good enough?
His album Silver Age is his best since the debut, IMHO
Just saw him at a free concert in Millennium Park in Chicago. Pretty phenomenal. Great concert. Fantastic music.
He has the funniest drummer in indie rock too!

finally got to see Bob, live! He kicked ASS!
Yay! More Bob!

Love Bob

I suppose there is a reason I hear Foo Fighters in this... :-)

Always sounds really good, Bobby......7
Lovely to hear some Bob Mould. Concur on all the recommendations of "Workbook".
Bumped from a 7 to 8 and back to 7 in the course of 3 minutes

More Bob please.
Anything from 'Workbook'.
His first solo album is awesome, frankly shocked I haven't hear ANY of those tunes here?!

Wow, finally a Bob Mould song...

Don't see any reason why RP can't add (at least) "Wishing Well" and "Lonely Afternoon" off Bob Mould's 1st solo outing, Workbook (1989 I think).  Was a huge Husker Du fan, saw them 3 times & have seen Mould w/ Sugar and also solo acoustic.  It's true what they say about Kurt Cobain: he knew he'd never be this good and so...
For what it's worth, I submitted "Last Drag of the Day" by Bob Mould, and it's still in "review" at 100/0. Maybe someday they'll put it on the playlist. Meanwhile, anything by Mould is worth a listen.

First of all, huuuge Mould fan here from way back, though not a Husker Du fan, I started loving him right after the Du and actually prefer his solo work, particularly with Sugar. I love all of his solo work except for this album; this song is good, but did not like the rest of album at all. I prefer Mould, just himself and his guitar ala the introspective self titled Bob Mould in 96. Some beautiful stuff there and one of my personal favorite albums of the 90's. Pretty good song, 6.

Love Mould.

more Mould and Husker Du!  anything really.  Sound on Sound on Sound
first thought was husker du on ambien, but turned out not bad

That's the biggest insult I can possibly imagine!
Good to hear Bob Mould on RP.  Don't hear enough of him nowadays.
R e j e c t e d ? ? ?

Didn't know who it was, but I liked the contrast between the guitar and the odd backing. Turns out it's Mould who I know from his Husker Du days (do they play any of that?)

OMG! Bob Mould!! I love this guy. . . he has so much good music. This song is new to me, but I've missed his more recent output. Not bad at all . . . I was half-listening, thinking this was a pretty good track, when his voice caught my ear and I realized who it was. . . Workbook is a stellar cd, and there are many cuts that should make the RP playlist.

Totally agree.
Is this one of those albums where he played all the instruments and produced? An undeniable talent, but somehow I think something is lost when one guy just goes in the studio and does everything. I definitely hear lots of vocal overdubs. I liked Husker Du, Sugar, and the "Workbook" CD - all fine listening. Saw him on the "Workbook" tour in San Francisco, and it was one of the worst shows I've ever been to - maybe the worst. He didn't say one word to the audience, ripped through his set with technical skill but little feeling - like we were watching a sound check all night. Then on the last song, it just went on and on. I'm sittting there thinking... "Quite an ending, can't believe it's so long... this is too long... this is so long it's cool again.... nope, past cool again and back to dumb." Then he just ended with a major feedback squwak, dropped the guitar and walked off. I actually said aloud "F*** you too, Bob." Don't think he heard me, or would have cared.
too bad the rest of the album isn't this good. great tune though.

Wow - "If I Can't..." is a great song! I'd forgotten about it - thanks for the refresh (maybe it will get to RP some day). CC
yeah, i'd love to hear that. or Good Idea.

no way! i'd love to find that. a few years ago he was supposed to play at the dc club the 9:30 club (great place, saw the afghan whigs there several times).
Very underrated talent here.
Bob's doing a great XTC impersonation...

He was originally in Husker Du. Although they are pretty hard, I really loved the songs he had a heavier hand in. (Up in the Air is an awesome Husker Du song.) Not sure where he is now, but he was in Austin, Texas for quite a while. I was lucky enough to see him after the release of Workbook in Dallas. Amazing show. If you want any Bob Mould, definitely get Workbook. I personally love the first 2/3rds of the album. (Not as hot on the songs after Trenton.) If you are looking for something a little harder, Sugar's album Copper Blue is amazing. The Act We Act and If I Can't Change Your Mind are both fantastic songs off that album. He is definitely worth looking into harder! I'm actually really surprised that he doesn't have more songs on RP!

Hmm, I'm on a bad run here. This is a 2, and the of the five previous numbers only Tears for Fears squeezed a 3. C'mon Santa, deliver me a 5 at least, pretty please with knobs on :)
One of Bob's best solo songs. Sugar kicked a$$ however. The last time I saw bob was back in 96-97 after his Bob Mould album. By the time he got to Portland, Or. he had fired his whole band and played acostic until the encore. Ironically it was an great show.

Nice song. It's good to see Bob played here.

I bob my head for another Bob :)
Pretty nice...actually reminds me on XTC in a way - very inventive melodically. I'd like to hear more from Bob on RP.

Last I heard Mould was living in DC. He has a blog somewhere - if ya google him you can prolly find it. He has a live CD recorded in London that is just brutally hard and fantastic.

I believe he's in DC. I did upload this although not sure after DL's comment if it was mine. Sugar is great, Copper Blue is super, but I'm a fan since way back in the HD days. Used to listen while skateboardin.... P.S. this song was actually used in an episode of Six Feet Under a couple of years back too.
Ahhh...nothing like a good, healthy BM in the morning.... A solid 8.

Extremely brief history of Bob Mould: Founding member and one of two driving forces between awesome and critically beloved 80s American punk legends Husker Du. After band broke up, Bob did solo projects for awhile. Then formed his own band, Sugar, another fine outfit. Since it broke up, he's done solo stuff.
Everybody should own the CD by Bob Mould entitled Workbook. One of my top 10 CDs. s
Interestingly, this song was rejected three times from other uploaders before being added. There have been about 10 or more Mould songs rejected otherwise. Bob belongs.

Several solo albums. Pretty depressive guy but even the dark songs can be extraordinarily layered and melodic. Also some discs under the Sugar name. I tried a prior upload and was rejected. Now that this song has broken the RP Mould cherry I may try some more.

Yessssssssssss! RP continues to impress! Nice job, guys.
So glad to hear Bob Mould on RP! Great pick...
Thanks for playing Bob. Already excited to go see him tomorrow night, this just pumps me up more!
