I think he's in a jealous rage
She's probably not the easiest one to live with either
There's nothing worse than bitterness
just splashed across the page
I don't think that either one of them are fit to be alive
Oh, She'd just shut up and do what she does best
Show a little bit of skin
But keep it all when she's undressed
And doesn't she know that she is doing it all wrong
You can't tell a joke, yeah
While I'm listening to your song

All of this talking and all of this chatter
Is making me sick
even though they say it doesn't matter
Let's put them in a room
Or maybe they should stay apart
Or maybe words are meant a mile
Yeah, let's fuck with their hearts

There's no reason to change
So lets watch everybody bleed
Cause everybody loves an accident
And everybody loves what they read

I think he's gonna be a big star
A voice of social change to rearrange the worlds perspective
But there's nothing better than watching him go down
He could pick up a habit or get in trouble
That might be affective

Oh, If he'd just shut off his conscience for one day
And take a cue from all of us
And give us a song we can really play
Doesn't he know he's going down
And going down fast
If he keeps on being difficult
He'll always come in last

All of this talking and all of this chatter
Is making me sick
even though they say it doesn't matter
Lets take away the stars
Give while enough a add-on
He's calling for backup
But, I'm strong enough to take that phone

There's reason to change
So lets go all have a beer
Cause everybody loves an accident
And everybody loves what they hear

Two sides working together
And working against one another
Two bad souls are destroyed
It's the nature of business
You know how this part is

Oh look, they're losing all of their trust
Oh look, they're trying to bite the helping hand that feeds them
We put clothes on their backs
And they try to take the money up front
Now they don't like what we're saying
So lets up and leave them

We would have done what they are doing anyway
So this shit about taking in the souls
And lifes lasting misery
We're gonna take them down
And do it on the front page
Watch those little crooks come crawling back on bended knee

All of this talking and all of this chatter
Is making me sick
even though they say it doesn't matter
I'm becoming a bore
Now I am wasting ashore
Now I'm still broken
But the subjects been spoken

There's no reason to change
But it sure is fun to advertise a fight
We're feeding off each other once again
But now neither one of us will give an inch until I break

I hope
I hope
I really hope
I hope
I hope
I hope
I hope

I think it was Omeara.

You Lucky Duck!  I wish I was there too!
I thought this was Concrete Blonde for a bit. Very nice.

GREAT!!!
Perfect coming after Little Hurricane's Haunted Heart; seamless segue; rhythm into rhythm, and everything else is just Jam with it
Oh this song is so groovy. I like it!
EXCELLENT TUNE!!!
Ich höre Raechal das erste Mal und bin wie verzaubert

I definitely hear some Johnette Napolitano influence here. Good stuff!

Rachael is so good. I discovered her going through CDs at the local public library when I found her Chesapeake album. What a treat. Always great lyrics. She's severely underrated.

Funny thing is, not a single one of my female friends digs her. There's a mystery.

Seconded! CJ usually is pretty spot on in his comments! ✌️ to ya CJ!
Too edgy for first thing in the morning. Think I'd like it better... at some other point. Isn't it about time in the day's programming for that Waterboys song you/we like so much, Mr. Bill? {#Wink}
Großartig. Great. Outstanding. Thanks
Everything she does is a 9. At least.
I think. . . I think I like this.
Accident has this.. earnest quality to it.  Not a bad thing if you dig the extra intensity.

Tough. I dig it.
Well.  Ahem.  Went and looked up the lyrics.  Gotta get this, based on the comments below, the music, and the wacko lyrics.

This one is better than the other one you played....

I just checked back. Thanks for the feedback.

She's good stuff live. Very personable and talkative. It must have been the venue or something...anyway I'm sure she was drinking bourbon and smoking during the performance. She seemed bigger on stage but when saw her after the gig and said Hi, she was tiny and cute. A recommend artist.
I like this.  The wife is a big Rachel Yamagata fan.  I should get her this, you know, as a gift...  that way I can burn it and keep it for myself.

...yep, the first disc is album-length slow and somber pieces, the second disc EP-length harder, faster tracks like this one...
I really like this. Can anybody tell me if the rest of the album is any good?
Sounds like the Pierces.
too many lyrics squeezed into a small space
This chick's got it down

Love this song!
And, following Hoodoo Gurus is just icing on the cake. Yum. Loves me my Rachael Yamagata.... {#Dancingbanana_2}
OMG - I have this CD!!!!!  A friend sent it to me, and I listened to it once and it got lost in the chaos that is my bedroom. Gonna have to dig it out, because I'm betting there are a LOT of other good songs on it (it's a double CD, I think.)
I like the hard driving pulse of her music.
Love it!
Nice!
RP, kudos for an absolutely awesome 1+ hour set that hit a crescendo with the Neil Young and then was finished nicely by the Shirely Basey.

Starting at about 9:28pm:

KD Lang - ?
Robbie Robertson - Unbound
Marvin Gaye - Trouble Man
Dougie MacLean - Ready For the Storm
Anoua Brahem - Stopover at Djibouti
Madelein Peyroux - Instead
Angelo Badalamenti - Dance of The Dream Man
Paolo Nutini - High Hopes
John Hiatt - True Believer
Jeff Beck - Cause We've Ended As Lovers
Sarah McLachlan - Possession
Neil Young - Like a Hurricane
Rachael Yamagata - Accident
Propeller Heads - History Repeating (w/ Shirley Bassey)

I so look forward to coming home from work and getting to turn on RP — Pure joy!!!

Jelani, how is that "land of the vague?"  From your post, it seems downright obscure there!  Oh, just having some fun....

The opening could be the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Rockin' political consciousness.
This is to teeny-bop'erish for me.I thought it was the Pierces at first...

I hear Concrete Blonde in there...{#Think}

Because of how she sounds, or because of how she looks? In this cover she looks like Linda Ronstadt (in her young skinny cute years). Google pics show she could easily be Liv Tyler's sister (the one that got all the talent, obviously, grin)
good seggie from hoodoo gurus
I assume she's a big fan of the Pretenders
yesh!  she can rock and it's nice to hear a little somethin new from her, i agree with all who've said it already.  this is a double album for her and one of them is full of tracks with the 'nice' songs that we're used to hearing from her, and the other, well this one is on the other...you can figure it out.

lovely, lovely woman.  when i saw her live (the day this album dropped) she was tending to her cold with whiskey.  my kind of lady!

Hey Mandolin,
At least she is easy on the eyes, eh? {#Yes}  Seems her manager(s) (i.e., professional handlers / record label execs) have encouraged her to shed a few pounds as she had been tending toward zaftig in some of the images I saw on Google.  In most of the other photos, she's quite fetching.  I'm growing to like her work and her look.  Nice package...
Cheers,
Tim

My guess is there are a few colorful word choices somewhere in her lyrics.  Also, the parental advisory warning helps sell to a certain (younger) segment of the market.  Go figure... {#Rolleyes}

Damn, she makes being smart and incredibly talented look easy!
Jade likes this. And if Jade likes it, God likes it too.
I have a couple of her records.  I like her voice and her choice of material. She seems to suffer from a tendency to under-play her songs in the manner of modern jazz singers.  Diana Kraal is the most prominent example of this, making every performance sound like a first read-through of a new lyric.  Holly Cole used to be accused of excesses of reserve in interpretation and emotion, but Diana has taken the emotional temperature of her delivery down to a few notches above zero K.
Rachel shows promise.  I'll keep listening and look forward to her finding some songs she feels like acting excited about.

Hey!  This is much better than the other offering I've heard on RP from this album.  Catchy is the catch word here, it seems.
Liking it!
Catchy right off.
