Wrapped up in dissonance,
I'm sorry that I just walked away
Lost in the insignificance of mine,
I had no words to say
Now I am better, I implore you
To say it isn't right
But somewhere deep in history
Your father pulled your teeth out of your face

Hold it in, now let's go dancing
I do believe we're only passing through
Wired again, now look who's laughing,
You again, oh you, oh you, oh you

Hold it in, now let's go dancing
I do believe we're only passing through
Wired again, now look who's laughing,
Me again, all fired up on you

Now she's caught between
What to say and what she really means
And I am finally colouring,
Inside the lines that I live between

Wrapped up in empathy,
The chemicals are pushing passed my blood
Hold all my cliches on the tip of my tongue
To tell you that it's love

Hold it in, now let's go dancing
I do believe we're only passing through
Wired again, now look who's laughing,
You again, oh you, oh you, oh you

Hold it in, now let's go dancing
I do believe we're only passing through
Wired again, now look who's laughing,
Me again, all fired up on you

And now she's caught between
What to say and what she really means
And I am finally colouring,
Inside the lines that I live between

Hold it in, now let's go dancing
I do believe we're only passing through
Wired again, now look who's laughing,
Me again, oh you, oh you, oh you

Hold it in, now let's go dancing
I do believe we're only passing through
Wired again, now look who's laughing,
Me again, all fired up on you

Wow, actually more soporific and amateurish than The National. Who knew that was even possible?

So repetitive and uninteresting, yet in constant rotation here?

bump
I sure like the intro.  After a few listens though, I'm realizing that the whole song is the intro repeated.  Hmm.  Somewhat monotonous.  Still like it though.
Love this.  It's worth checking out live versions on youtube, where there are at least a couple very good ones.

Perfect at 5am this cold, wet Seattle morning. Goodnight ~

Boring crap.
2 much, 2 boring.
That gauzy sound...It's the sound of remembering, the sound of daydreaming...you're not there, but almost...wonderful...{#Sunny}
I'm certainly acquiring a taste for his music as well.  Oats in the water is sooo good.   PermittedAloud wrote:
Very fresh songwriting here. I must disagree with those who dislike the hazy, distant sound; it's both obviously intentional and works very well. A unique and listenable piece.

Ben Howard's song "Time is Dancing" - Now she's caught between, What to say and what she really means.

I think the sound of the suppressed instruments work well, underlining the in between world of this verse.

Totally agree!
Just a noise that makes you want to turn it off quickly.

And you can enjoy it as an album, not as a number of songs. Rare thing now...

getting to like this song a lot but why is the rest of the band in the next room, would have sounded better if they recorded it in the same room as the singer

A boring song with a very confused sound and no details of the instruments.

The beginning is reminiscent of The Starseeds.

I can definitely hear a bit of War on Drugs in this tune! Or a bit of this tune in The War On Drugs. Not sure which...

Sounds like a loose connection to my speakers.

I am so tempted to make a really inappropriate suggestion.

Just saw him at Red Rocks and he was FANTASTIC!!  Now, that being said, my dog singing at Red Rocks is pretty freakin' good too...

"The same", as in they're all about 3-5 minutes long and performed by the same artist.  Other that that, this album is pretty diverse, engaging and great.

Time may be dancing for Ben, but the only folk I can see dancing to this Mogadonic dirge are extras from a George A Romero film.

Nitrazepam is the answer, apparently.

It's impossible to not appreciate this sort of in-the-moment commentary on life as influenced by music. The existence of a global community that appreciates the reality of the intersection of music and mind alterations is a good thing.
Under-stated, wonderful musical art.
