Used to have just one foot out the door
Yeah, I always wanted more
I always was the one
You thought would never marry
Used to be willfully obtuse
(or is the word abstruse?)
Semantics like a noose
Get out your dictionaries

I'm gonna cut to the quick
This is all non-fiction
Words you beat with a stick
These are my true convictions

So tell me, are you serious?
Are you serious?
Cause every night of your life
You'll fight for it
So mysterious
How imperious!
But are you serious
When it really comes down to it?

I see that you're down there and on the pier
Your boyfriend's gone to get a beer
Leaving us crystal clear lines of communications
Promise me you won't avert your eyes
I drop my flippers in disguise
You know it's time to do or die
No useless explanations

I'm gonna cut to the quick
This is all non-fiction
Words you beat with a stick
These are my true convictions

Tell me, are you serious?
Are you serious?
Every night of your life
You'll fight for it
So mysterious
How imperious!
But are you serious
When it really comes down to it?

This reminds me of something I like; therefore I like this! Especially the mandolin.
EDIT: Just recalled what this (the mandolin hook) reminds me of: "Oops!… I did it again".

The melody sounds similar in spots but it's a different chord progression.
The unusual instrumentation caught my ear, so I looked.... Oh! Its Andrew Bird! That explains it.

Amazingly creative musician. Yeah, what sounds like possibly a Shamisen is a plucked amplified violin. What sounds like a strummed Mandolin is also his Violin. He creates a lot of interesting layers.
The Genius starts repeating himself....

growing on me ...

I think the rhyming is less than subliming {#Cheesygrin}

Still quite listenable, so gave a 7.

Fantastic rhyming markybx.

I've seen him twice live, and I'm pretty sure what sounds like a mandolin is really him plucking his violin held like a guitar. He does that a lot.
Hit me baby one more time?

I'm serious Mr.& Mysterious confirm obtuse and everthing under the rain aye aye stutz.
I'm hearing strains of The Shins
Anyone else here think that he should change his name to Andrew 'the' Vocabulary Bird?{#Laughing}
Wow - very cool retro sound and groove in this one. Love it!

Sounds like Andrew has lightened up a little. I like it!
