Just outside there waiting.
Just outside the circle.
Waiting for that finger to point your way.
Just keep running. Just keep running.

New ones quickly burning.
Old ones die away.
Fires lit to say goodbye or hello.
Which way you looking? Which way you looking?

Count all wounds that brought you here.
Lay your blessings end to end.
Rid yourself of all regrets
Because here is where it all begins.
A bumbler's game, a cheaters wheel
Where the winner pays the highest cost.
You've laid your marker now watch the ball.
Hold your breath its about to fall.

Just outside there waiting.
Just outside the circle.
Waiting there is someone I don't know who.
I'm so open, I'm so open.

I don't sleep most nights,
Just lie awake and count my blessings.

I'll take this endless life
Of perfect pointless mornings.

I'll hold you till the morning comes
'cause it's all that I can do.

I'm so open. I'm so open.

I don't like these last goodbyes.
I don't like goodbyes.

hahaha! Be careful, that might be her on the album cover!
Margo is so open?
Got my tickets for their Jan. 29th gig at The Birchmere. Can't wait.

{#High-five} Yes, their upbeat songs are my favorites.

This must've been recorded on one of the days when they drank caffeinated coffee instead of their customary decaf.

Cowboy Junkies — I'm So Open

This is the second song in a row with a 3/4 time break.  Though this one may be more 6/8.  Still, that can't be a coincedence on Bill/Reb's part.
I remember the thrill of discovering this here on RP...got me onto a CJ's jag for a good while. I dig the sultry voice, edgy guitars, lyrics...

Maybe the person who posted the comment you responded to is not familiar with a Venus flytrap; that plant is only native to the Carolinas.  Or maybe he just prefers to see a vagina dentata.
Thanks Bill Margo morning.

I too thought this was Elvis from the opening notes. {#Wink}

What, behind the venus flytrap?

                              I have an agenda.
I trust you, you may have % 99.9
                       Uptime and  enough gender.
She was about to run, and search for pots and pans

That says as much about you as it does the artist/band.

Like the music, but for some reason can't stand her voice,....Years ago I used to like the groove of their songs but now, man, guitar work ok, drums good, but that voice,..argh,....

Weird how our tastes change as time passes.  I can agree that her voice doesn't seem to work well at times.  Again, their stuff seems a bit staid sometimes, like they are all sat down with music stands in front of them.  No rockin' goin' on.

For gawd's sake, Margo, SCREAM a little!

Longtime CJ fan. Upbeat tune is uncharacteristic of them, but it works pretty well IMO. Thanks for playing this.

When you can hear Margo, she is screaming.
I can image all this band are sat down, just like on the old '60's Roger Whittaker TV show
I plus-1ed my rating just because of the combination of the song title and the album graphic.

miss you so much, Cynaera...

love this song...

My friends always find it strange that I really love groups like 10,000 Maniacs and even the 'popier' Til' Tuesday, but just dont care at all for Cowboy Junkies. Dont know what it is, but though a female lead vocalist and smooth groove are among my favorite tastes, this group doesnt speak to me in the least. :(

Perfect song to get the blood pumping this morning.

absolutely incredible...  love it...

snuck on me

Everybody in my church loves this song...

Sorry to break the world record for Rtuma; but this is a sneaky toon that creeps up on one.
For the moment Canada rules, this is great.

CJ's with a shoegazer beat.  Very nice!

Was hearing "I sold opium", until I checked the playlist.
Saw the CJ's a couple of three weeks ago at the Grand Targhee Fest, and they definitely rocked. Had some dude playing an electric mandolin that was killer!
Wow, I keep saying this at pickup games. But no one throws me the ball. Maybe cause I suck. HaHaHa Love the guitar in this one!

Sloppy drumming in the verse takes this down to a 4. They're setting out for a groove that never really settles. And the song is kind of tedious over all...
Ah yes, CJ = 1 "Sucko Barfo". Automatic.
Always been a huge CJ fan for quite some time. nice to hear them on a station. really love thier album "black-eyed man", great lyrics.
Love their version of Sweet Jane that was on the Natural Born Killers soundtrack...
Second CJ song in 4 hours. Bill, give other groups a chance.
good stuff! i'm not up on their lastest stuff, saw them once at a nice small venue a couple of years back, hoooray for CJs!
This song has a similar musical flavor to a song I tried uploading that got rejected... Jude's "Rick James." I suggest folks check it out, has a nice groove to it..
