I'm going to Kansas City
Kansas City here I come
I'm going to Kansas City
Kansas City here I come
They got a crazy way of loving there
And I'm gonna get me some

I'll be standing on the corner
On the corner of Twelfth Street and Vine
I'm gonna be standing on the corner
On the corner of Twelfth Street and Vine
With my Kansas City baby
And a bottle of Kansas City wine

Well I might take a train
I might take a plane
But if I have to walk
I'm gonna get there just the same
I'm going to Kansas City
Kansas City here I come
They got a crazy way of loving there
And I'm gonna get me some

I'm gonna pack my clothes
Leave at the break of dawn
I'm gonna pack my clothes
Everybody will be sleeping
Nobody will know where I've gone
Cause if I stay in town
I know I'm gonna die
Gotta find a friendly city
And that's the reason why
I'm going to Kansas City
Kansas City here I come
They got a crazy way of loving there
And I'm gonna get me some

Posted with this song is the pc version of the lyrics.  Below is the true version:

They got some crazy little women there
And I'm gonna get me one.
In 1976, the Republican National Convention was in Kansas City.  This song was sung by all — Democrats and Republicans alike.
Wow. I always pictured some white(caucasian) hayseed singing this song.

Why, this song is making me want to go to kansas city. not really, but the song is good. {#Bananajam}{#Dancingbanana_2}
Ok, like back when I was a kid I knew this guy that had a bigassed convertible buick and we glued/roped a pair of steer horns to the hood of the buckmaster and cruised to the beach smoking cigars and drinking beer and playing this song over and over. Memories, eh!

I once heard somebody -- oddly, I think it was actually sportscaster Jim Lampley, about 15 years ago when he was on WFAN in New York -- do a bit about this song and those "crazy little women" in Kansas City. Well, I guess you had to be there (listening to him, I mean, not in Kansas City)...but it does sort of give pause to consider what exactly is meant by the reference. But that's beside the point. As usual, a great old original recording.
I was watching Jim Lampley one time on a satellite feed. He was in a commercial break but the feed was still rolling for those of us with a C-Band satellite. He hawked up a big loogey and spit on the floor. It was great.
A monumental classic. Thanks for playing this Bill...truly meeting the standard of the eclectic, intelligent radio.

This was one of my favorite songs that played at the roller rink when I was a kid. I loved this song because it was really good to two-step to. Thanks for the blast-from-the-past Bill, you really know how to make this listener smile.
Interesting to hear you play this one, the original version is the best I think...I use to listen to this on the juke box in my parents bar when I was but a wee lass. Now I am one of those crazy little women!

anyone heard the willie nelson version?
Or how about the Beatles version? Yes, even the Beatles covered this tune, with Paul on vocals. I was quite the Beatle freak in 5th grade.....
ooh, look, crazy little women! watch yer step! oh dangit
One of the greatest songs in the history of music. I am convinced people will still be groovin' to this one in 500 years. I mean it.

I got an original 45 of this somehow... I think it was my aunt's or something. 8
I've always wondered who sang this song. Now I know.
I'm sure this is more authentic, but I like the Beatles' version.
Awesome! I remember having this 45. Great childhood flashback.... thanks Bill!!!
great song,, have never heard this version before,, must be the original,, willie nelsons version is pretty cool as well
Bill, are you playing this for me?
