This song just keeps getting better for me.
(Scottish) slàinte mhath  (ˌslɑːndʒə ˈva)  or
(Irish) sláinte mhaith  (ˌslɑːntə ˈva)

Gaelic: good health

Its wrong in a good way. 8 for me.
dang this sux
strange... makes my nates move in a good way {#Ass}{#Meditate}
An-Noy-Ing!
Spelled Mhath, not Mhaith.
I am glad they finally got through to Annie

Bagpipes! Bagpipes are good. Always.

Repetitive R.L.-Burnside-meets-"Frontier-Psychiatrist" vocal sample. Double not-good.

How do I rate it, then? I'm so conflicted!
Must admit, I know the feeling.
Not bagpipes... close though...

The uilleann pipes (/ˈɪlən/ or /ˈɪljən/; Irish: ) are the characteristic national bagpipe of Ireland. Earlier known in English as "union pipes", their current name is a partial translation of the Irish-language term píobaí uilleann (literally, "pipes of the elbow"), from their method of inflation.  The bag of the uilleann pipes is inflated by means of a small set of bellows strapped around the waist and the right arm (in the case of a right-handed player; in the case of a left-handed player the location and orientation of all components are reversed). The bellows not only relieve the player from the effort needed to blow into a bag to maintain pressure, they also allow relatively dry air to power the reeds, reducing the adverse effects of moisture on tuning and longevity. Some pipers can converse or sing while playing.

Noise.
The Moving Hearts did so good music, in the 90s
This just sounds horrible... PSD time!
I like it...kitchy!

Yes.  Aside from the fact that my wife's name is Annie.

Interesting use of bagpipes.
Bagpipes rarely work as a rock instrument but in this case I think they do. I'd like to hear more from the album/artists. Though I recognise that I may regret saying that.
Strangely appealing.
This is terrific! I heard it for the first time this evening, and thanks to RealPlayer, got to hear it several times. Kind of a Celtic George Clinton. Thanks, Bill and Rebecca!
Love it! The spoken-word part is like Wm S. Burroughs meets the Prairie Home Companion "Ketchup Advisory Board" guy. "These are the good years for Barb & Annie & me..."

Let's see if it becomes a familiar favorite - or a grating ear worm.
Unfortunately, it's leaning towards the latter. Sometimes sampled voice clips work, and then, there's this song.
I like this, but then I'm a Scot with a daughter and grannie named Annie.

Because you know that many RPeeps would come to your house and slap you silly, that's why.
Is this 'WAS, NOT WAS' gone Celtic??

Those are real. Real good.
This is the song that made me a fan of these guys (and one girl-Lisa) Too bad they've broken up after only two LPs. Thanks to whomever got this added!
I find this just annoying. It's that talking guy
This would be really good without those preposterous voice samples. When using a 'karaoke' or 'voice removal' filter like in XMMS, they disappear completely, but it makes the music sound weird too.
This one's really growing on me. It has a little 'something' which always finds me smiling when it comes on.
Annie get yer gun. Please. Put them out out of their misery. You'd make my day, too.

Because it's really good.

stop this craziness! i can just see them in the studio, "let's do this quote over and over again in the background, that'll be really hip!"
As a novelty song, I don't mind hearing this once in a while, but it would never be on heavy rotation.
Annie must be pretty good.........
Dear God this is horrid!! Finally I got through this song!!!
bagpipes are a might irritating. are these synth bagpipes?
Whoa dude-Mind Expanding!
What the hell is this?
For some reason it reminds me of Malcolm McLaren's Buffalo Gals.

Annie, get your gun.
B/G rap reminds me of It's bad, you know, by R. L. Burnside.

Ashley went over the edge a few years back (drugs, bankruptsy, eratic behavior)...but he seems to have popped up again recently, tho' no saner. He has expressed a desire to run for the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada.
Did we figure out who Annie is?
... ...
Spirited, but even at its short running time, it wears out its welcome pretty fast.

Oh, you know. Little girl, adorable and precocious to the point of pain. Dog. Likes to sing. John Denver wrote a song for her, too, I think. MT
Which Annie? Annie Oakley Annie Get Your Gun Annie Waits Little Orphan Annie Dreamboat Annie Poke Salad Annie Annie Lennox
wow - I always turn this jammer up when it pops on
good stuff

Three cheers for the lyricist!
ARGH! Enough of the bagpipes! Be gone wid ye!
*nods head* Good beat. I kinda like this.

Rockin'! Blow them pipes man! Wish I had a bagpipe smiley.

I stand corrected, but they sure sound like electronic pipes on this track.
Elements weave well together into compelling whole.

More blowing! Less talking!

My daughter's name is Annie. That's the only reason this song speaks to me. I think I actually did finally get through to Annie. Not easy with a 14-year-old. :)
I like this song...super fun fiddle style makes me want to wiggle and dance in my chair at work. I even like the "lyrics" although I wish I knew what it was he got through to Annie.
The bagpipe makes this song a winner. I, too, however would be happy if there were no lyrics, or at least something different than, "Finally I got through to Annie" over and over and over again!
A very strange song! ---> a 7
I could do without the lyrics....
The spoken stuff totally throws it for me. Normally I like bagpipes!

Odd tune, but I LOVE the bagpipes. They are very well-done on that song.

What in the name of all that is sacred is going on here? I'm Irish. I got married there. Please destroy any record of this.
A 9 for creativity alone. Well done chaps!
I love this tune - gave it a thumbs up when it was on the LRC and givin' it a rockin' 9 here on the main channel. Get's me doing a little chair dancing in the office, it does! TTTU!
Usually I just ignore the songs that don't appeal to me. I pulled up the rating screen to trash this one and found I had already given it a 2. I must have a STRONG dislike for "Annie"!

... and Annie said, "Turn that bloody thing off!"
Nice groove, good segue from Amadou & Mariam.

I love stuff like this every once in a while. Nice change-up.

As a surviving child of the 60's fun, I love this song and have been playing it over and over on my iPod. Got the title from Bill so I will get the CD. No music channel for that these days, 'cept for good ol RP
I have heard this several times on my local CBC in Ottawa. I find it has that oddball charm, too.
Annie McGuire or Annie McTavish?

I am not allergic to bagpipes. I am not allergic to samples. I am not even allergic to repeated samples. But make the samples stupid, combine them with bagpipes, and arrange it poorly, and you might just get a 1 out of me.
Pretty much what I was thinking. Kinda like it, but wouldn't want to see it get heavy play in the rotation. Daveinbawlmer wrote:

I'd say a lot of you are confusing "stupid" with "fun". C'mon, folks. You're getting awfully hung up on a very minor part of this song. Not everything on RP has to be deadly serious or thought-provoking. You people need to lighten up and try dancing like you're made of Dream Whip.
Finally this song is over.
supah tune just supah. great trance tune

Agreed -- love the piping -- hate the lyrics!

Great tune, thanks!!!
Sounds like a techno-club remix performed by the Regimental Pipers of the Black Watch Regiment--which is a silly idea, yet fun.
