This band will dream perpetually about their theoretical career in music if they keep at it like this.

She wishes. A lesser Natalie Merchant, maybe. I much prefer the PM5K album When Worlds Collide or the cheesy rocket in the 50's movie When Worlds Collide or my first edition combo hardcover of When Worlds Collide and After World's Collide that inspired all of the above.
sounds a bit dreary and boring so far...

is it just me or do they wish they were the Hip?

For me she sounds like a bit of Elisa. She has these great tracks "Labyrinth" and "Sleeping in your hand" from Lotus and you will love Elis if you like what you're hearing now. I have to give to Perpeutal Dream Theory decent points for this.
Better than the Dylan track that just played. Yeah, I said it.
Still Lovin' them
Sounds like a bad recording of a local karaoke singer in a band. Not very good.
I dunno, I think it's like a less irritating version of the Cranberries. some of the production is quite bad, but I like it.

a hearty 1.
When Worlds Collide... there shall be much agony.
Not really feeling it.. I wonder whats next!!
What college do these kids go to?

Wow, what terrible percussion work.
You're right. It sounds like they are rehearsing in an hourly rehearsal space. Probably more the fault of whoever "produced" this, than the actual drummer.
+1 here. I wouldn't mind hearing it one more time to see if it grows on me (not unlike a life-draining fungus) but all in all not very good. calray wrote:

meh.
does Natalie Merchant have a vocal twin?
A little nervous vocals...

So is anyone else hearing an old Cure song in this?

I guess Bill agrees: 5/1/2006 Perpetual Dream Theory - When Worlds Collide The Cure - Pictures of You
sounds wild colonial, sorta....

I'm with you on that. Nathalie Merchant on a slight helium high.

There's a free EP at their website as well as some tracks that can be downloaded on the music page (including this one).
I remember PDT from back in the Living Closet days. Amazing stuff, Sorry to have missed them on RP. Look forward to hearing them on here soon!
A quick trip to the Perpetual Dream Theory website reveals: 1. A redheaded female lead singer with an om tatoo 2. Powerbooks on stage! 3. Band geek guys who could be me if I was a band geek Meanwhile, my ears are swearing that this is some Kristin Hersh side project. No wonder I like this!
I am not liking the drum sound - too crispy, too overbearing, argh CYMBALS - why?
Caught my ear right away. Time will tell whether or not it grows on me.
