You say that they've all left you behind
Your heart broke when the party died
Drape your arms around me and softly say
Can we dance upon the tables again?

When your smile is so wide
And your heels are so high
You can't cry
Get your glad rags on and let's sing along
To that lonely song

You're the train that crashed my heart
You're the glitter in the dark
Ooh Laura
You're more than a superstar

And in this horrorshow
I've got to tell you so
Ooh Laura
You're more than a superstar

You say that you're stuck in a pale blue dream
And your tears feel hot on my bed sheets
Drape your arms around me and softly say
Can we dance upon the tables again?

Your smile is so wide
And your heels are so high
You can't cry
Get your glad rags on and let's sing along
To that lonely song

You're the train that crashed my heart
You're the glitter in the dark
Ooh Laura
You're more than a superstar

You'll be famous for longer than them
Your name is tattooed on every boy's skin
Ooh Laura
You're more than a superstar

You're the train that crashed my heart
You're the glitter in the dark
Ooh Laura
You're more than a superstar

And in this old horrorshow
I've got to let you know
Ooh Laura
You're more than a superstar
You're more than a superstar

Raising this from a 3 to 6, still not crazy about it but must have been in a really foul mood to rate any song a 3...

Not to be crude, but I love the cover art... And I mean art!

The cover photo was shot by Ryan McGinley and was based on a previous photo he had shot - called "India (Coyote) "- which Natasha Khan liked.
Really excellent recording quality on this one.
The first Bat for Lashes song I've liked enough to listen to until the end.  Mainly because of the brass arrangement.
Blech

I usually try to avoid the "this sounds like.... " comments but this time I can't help myself.  This song could have come directly off Pink Floyd's The Final Cut.  I think its mostly the instrumentation, but the tone would completely fit.  She is much better looking than Roger Waters though...

It really is that french horn call using the same chord structures.
Absolutely superb and very well recorded.
Likable. But mercy with the ART SCHOOL! Captain Obvious blare.

The song is dedicated to Natasha's friend, Laura 'Little Nell' Campbell. She's best known for playing 'Columbia' in the Rocky Horror Picture Show

I was wondering the same thing
going to go against the tide and like this one

{#Clap}
I think it's sweet.
Sorry, one hearing was enough.  Really wears a person down on further listening.  PSD for this boy.
Agreeed!!!

Heh, I know what you mean. I was just going to say "overwrought nonsense" but she does have the same power to irritate as F + M.

who the hell is Laura
LALALOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!
This isn't wearing very well
This song puckers my 'you know what', way worse than Florence and the Machine.

Hahahaha! She is amazing.
Horrid.
Looks like my last family portrait.

Naw, she's more than that...

Bill, you should really consider playing some Bat for Lashes that, you know, actually goes somewhere.  This was played out about halfway through the first listen.
It reminds me of Free as a Bird by the Beatles {#Neutral}
Put this on the shelf already!
OK is there another song from the album?  This one is getting tiring.

Down from 5 to 4 to 3... This is not very good as it turns out, and worse with each successive listen. Definitely boring. {#No}  At least the record cover is interesting (up to a point).
Everytime I hear it I love it more and more...from 7 to 10!!

WOOOOOHHHH!! My co-worker thinks I'm cray cray when I start emotionally lip singing.
very nice, very pretty...
Y A W N ! ! ! !
Tasha Kahn... Tasha Kahn... I wanna rock you Tasha Kahn. That all I wanna do. I wanna rock you Tasha Kahn.I want to feel for you!

That's a keen observation.  It would be interesting to do a mashup between this and "The Fletcher Memorial Home "
I loved her last album and was initially a little resistant to the new material.  On every return listen though, I keep thinking that she's nailing it!  *swoon and sway*
Good stuff
I love her sweet, raw, vulnerable voice...her simple, direct songwriting approach.
Wow, why is this getting so much air play. Everyday, come on.

Excellent! Something new to my ears that is interesting and innovative. A brave and original cover image helps. I'll give this a 9 right out of the box.

Agreed about the cover art (sexy), but I'll start with a 7.
I wonder - who is Laura?
..he's just following instructions.."drape your arms around me and softly say / can we dance upon the tables again?"..

..looking forward to seeing the photos of That-!..

..starting this @ 7..seems a sure riser, tho..
