Yes, I'm cold, cold as ice
and so now you know
how our story is supposed to go
I say yes and then I'll say no

well you burnt a bird and then held it up
your collar now is a bloody cuff
cause you kept your heart inside your throat
poured your name into every note
a simple song could be a silent sigh
so every breath now signifies

Impressive Harmonising Folks !!!!!
I googled Chris Bathgate for fun. I expected a difficult looking bearded man with a strategically placed tatoo and hipster clothes. Because that's how this genre goes. But Chris looks pretty normal. Still not my genre of music.

It's the Avett Mumford Leland Elephant Revival.

Fred. Were you attacked by a group of Public School children in early life? While I have met some abhorrent toffs in my time I can't paint them all with the same brush. . . just as I can't say the same at the other end of the social circle.

Have you actually met the Mumfords. .  .or is it just the thought that they are not 'allowed' to sing in the style of peasants?

Not that I mind either way. . . I don't like their music anyway.

I did not get very high marks in US history, but I don't recall that we had, um, peasants here.  If you don't like those find young toff gents, we'll be welcome to call them our own.

According to Wikipedia, he's originally from Illinois and now lives in Ann Arbor, MI.  Nice tune.

I like Ann Arbor. Fond memories. Not this song.

If you can bear that bunch of toff poseurs that's a good thing. I had to mute toot sweet.

For all Non-English speakers, or people not from the UK...

"In British English slang, a toff is a mildly derogatory term for someone with an aristocratic background or belonging to the landed gentry, particularly someone who exudes an air of superiority. For instance, The Toff, a character from the series of adventure novels by John Creasey is an upper-class crime sleuth, who uses a common caricature of a toff - a line drawing with a top hat, monocle, bow-tie and cigarette with a holder - as his calling card."  via Wikipedia.

Not to be confused with The Hoff...

I wouldn't buy it, but it's not bad in the background.
I love the way Bill always seems to plug Ann Arbor when he introduces this song. A fine town, indeed.
"Wait, skeleton.  Yes, I'm cold."  Kinda morbid when taken together, eh?
Wow. This guy is good. Keep him in the rotation please.
Only caught the end, liked what I heard, thought it may have been Vedder's Ukelele songs at first..

I like this for the title of the album.  The song itself is pretty neat, too - lots of complex layers that start with a single thread and build into a rich tapestry. 7 for now.
Growing on me by the second.

Liking this more as the drums and electric guitars kicked in...
