A perfect song for a winter's night.

I love Brendan Perry's voice....I read somewhere his voice is a cross between Frank Sinatra and Jim Morrison. Thanks, RP, for playing DCD.
Exactly. And maybe a little Andy Williams? Cool stuff.
I could do without this. Is this a fair representation of their music, or does it all suck anus bubbles?
more dcd please!
I sort of got a Morrison meets Tony Bennet or Frank Sinatra feeling from it. Hauntingly enjoyable. Govi wrote:

This is one of my least favorite Dead Can Dance songs... but I love the band so much. So COOL to hear them on RP!!
Saw these guys place live recently and was rather under-whelmed at their perfunctory performance. On stage Brendan is the more animated and probably could hold a show on his own. Lisa is the more stoic but has an astonishing voice. Band was good but the show was very tightly scripted.
Interesting story.

Dead Can Dance are great...except when the guy sings.

exactly. makes me want to hurl myself from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. there's much better Dead Can Dance to play than this.

Yeah, well, my boyfriend had put it on a mixed tape for me! And I liked it... She wasn't the one for you. Well, I guess I wasn't the one for him... He broke up with me... his loss! See below. :)
Kinda ironic. My g/f and I broke up like 5 days after I posted that. So.. yeah.. I guess she wasn't the one for me... *shrug*... I guess the Dead Can Dance thing shoulda warned me...
a masterpiece...thanks RP

Wow. I haven't heard this in years. Reminds me of an old boyfriend... HEART-ACHE! Thanks for sharing RP. Bitter-sweet.
I have the 'Spleen and Ideal' CD, and like it a lot. This on the other hand, sounds awful. I will give it another listen before writing it off.

Did you know that in French reading the letters DCD means "Deceased". Spooky.
Sounds like The Blue Nile to me. Any relation?
this song struggles.

to me he sounds like someone who would climb into a coffin with ole blue eyes and the lizard king

Frank Sinatra meets Jim Morrison exactly...
The carnival really is over...how sad.

Based on that, I just figured out, after pondering for a number of years, why DCD is so popular in L.A..... that's a good reason why........ RIP Jim. This band's music is beautiful......

Actually, I think this is their best album.

Now this should segue into "Loom of the Land" by Nick Cave. That would be perfect.
Or something from This Mortal Coil

Superb transition from The Shins - Pink Bullets! :)

Thanks for the Dead Can Dance!! Play more Lisa Gerrard DCD tunes as well: Wind that Swept the Barley Glordean Cantara Persian Love Song etc etc..

Blech!
I thought this was Barry Manilo impersonating Frank Sinatra. BLECH Is all I can think of as well.
Blech!
Sounds more like dead can't sing to me.
I wish I could rate this an 11...

get out of my head. totally agree.

I've always thought so too. DCD lyrics are better in my opinion.
Dead Can Dance.. ANY DCD, is so wonderful to hear on RP! Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry are a duo of unequaled beauty, skill and ability to raise the ghost of the Mystery. Into the Labyrinth is one of their finest CD's.
Not their bestest work ever, although I do love the band. For those interested, A Passage in Time, gives a very good accounting of their very significant skills, both as song writers and performers.
I love this band......love his voice.....haunting, intoxicating....thanks RP
talking about melancholy....

Dead Can Dance. Great Band, Great Song. I can't remember the name of the girl from the band but she worked closely with Hans Zimmer when creating music for "Gladiator".
HER NAME IS LISA GERRARD.

I love this. This is a great album. The first time I heard it, I thought it was Sinatra singing. He couldn't be that trippy.
awful
I see now that that's not a terribly original thought. So sorry.
This has got to be the WORST song RP has ever played!
This guy sounds a little like Jim Morrison. A little.

Hmm... This kind of sucks. On first listen, anyhow...
Dead Can Dance on RP! Far out. Toward The Within (live) is fantastic.
Thesis: Dreamy synth music only appeals to people who are taking drugs or trying to have "profound sex".
This really bites. I don't want to ever hear it again. Plus, I hate it.
I'm driven by a strange desire to plug my ears with cotton wool..
I'm with the poster earlier who thought it was the ghost of Jim Morrison. Certainly Ho Hum.

Sorry, but this is awful. Hackneyed musical "riffs", awful faux string sounds that could have come from a cheap plastic electronic keyboard and a voice that just doesn't seem to fit. This really is sucko-barfo... :-(
Not according to the rest of them. Sorry. Your fired !
Hearing any DCD is worth mention. Another solid tune from them. Thanks, Bill.
Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard do Dead can Dance for a long time now I most like "Dead can Dance", "Spleen and Ideal", and "Within the Realm of a Dying Sun", al about their first albums. "The Serpents Egg" ain't bad either, but shows a little change. Their music is still very recognizable along the way, and I like it. IIRC Lisa Gerrard once composed some music for the Cirque Du Soleil
Now can we have the REAL Scott Walker?

Interesting. But all I can think of is how this guy's voice (and the song, come to think of it) sound like a blend of Jim Morrison and the guy from Crash Test Dummies :?
I've never heard of Dead Can Dance. I like it -- laid back music. Yet another reason I'm glad I support Radio Paradise.
Is that the ghost of Jim Morrison I hear?
My favorite DCD song ever! Too bad it was on in the middle of the night and I only found out it played by looking at the playlist.
... by the time .... I get to Pheonix.... She'll be waking...
Great to hear another DCD song!
Nice to hear some DCD on RP!!! Eclectic and beautiful, to say the least...
