I saw two different Interpols: one in their own concert in a small place, an excellent, vibrant and flawless performance - a great show with an energetic audience; the other at U2 concert: apathetic, scared (maybe), uncomfortable band - the audience (most of them) were indifferent to their show - they were just waiting for U2 - and the place was HUGE.

What I guess is they don't have the same (good) feedback from the audience in the U2 concert compared to their own event and that reflects on their performance.

Saw these guys open for U2 in Toronto this summer. They looked really uncomfortable, and didn't give a very good show. I wonder if it was the stadium setting, or if they're just not great live. Any input?

This is a pretty decent album.  One track really stands out on it in my mind, and that is NYC.  Not played on RP though.

i agree. the simplicity and the brief appearance of lyrics is one of the things i like most about this song. it leaves it up to the listener to do most of interpreting about the "surprise." crazy... i was just listening to this song not two hours ago!

Lots of beef from people about this song down there! I prefer this album over their 2nd album, and this song, Stella, and whatever track #2 is called are the best songs on the album, in my opinion. Only shame was that the opening snippet of this track was used for the gimmicky Joey/Rachel kiss scene in "Friends," which was traumatically cheesy...

Your comment is more repititous than the song which suggests an inner conflict. Great song, dark, deep band full of disturbing emotions. Similar to very, very early Cure's album "Faith". I have both their albums and they are both very listenable. Especially during the winter, driving at at night on lonely country roads.

This is such a solid album...it is truly an album, rather than a random collection of songs -- rare these days. And this first track is indicative of the subtle, slow, build that characterizes what comes after it.

Occasionally I buy a CD with absolutely NO knowledge of the band's music. Such was the case for "Turn on The Bright Lights" by Interpol. I trusted the word of a low-wage store clerk. My risk landed me with the CD and "Untitled". Good stuff.
