This is the story of my time machine invention.
It's not perfect, cuz I'm not that bright.
We walk our days with the best of intentions,
But when I screw things up, I wanna go back and make 'em right.
Yeah, I'm a believer in mind over matter.
And I've made my mind up to travel in time.
Restart the days, and I'll do it so much better.
I waste so much time a worryin' I forgot to live my life
I'm not going anywhere 'til I'm back to where it was we were before.
I don't need anything except always needing just a little more.
I run in circles so I can kick me in the pants.
There's a reason God is doG backwards: we must chase the tail.

The truth is my invention refuses to go backwards.
A tiny glitch I'm sure to figure out.
But I can ride on the moment slowly time travelling forwards
So the next destination is always right now. (All aboard!)

I've finally solved the puzzle of my time machine invention.
You see, in the future, this present is the past, so
If you give this moment your fullest attention
We'll just keep going forwards with no need for going back.

Ha!

or better yet let someone else sing, this is such a good band and his hayseed boy scout singing ruins it

Ooh, I just do not like this song at all. AT ALL!
There is too little energy in this.

I've liked the Cloud Cult I'd heard up to this point. Ah, for those carefree, innocent times before this was played.
Meh. One clever lyric does not a whole song make.
There is much to like here except the voice sounds like an acquired taste.
Easily a finalist for worst voice in the music industry. It just grates.
I wanted to like this song, and they get credit for writing and rhyming (which shouldn't be that hard, but is, apparently). But it's silly, and much less meaningful than would appear. And I agree that the lead singer does not have a compelling voice, presentation, or style. Kind of a generic hipster song- should be cool but isn't, really, when you pay attention. As it were.
Bill, you're slowly converting me to Cloud Cult,
I think it's all about the lyrics?
This song was so-so the first few times I heard it, but then goes downhill fast after that ... 5 ==> 2

People would do well to follow the lyrics

God not this song AGAIN 😭😭😭

What kind of cheese do you pair with your whine?
no really, shoot this singer

Agreed!
God not this song AGAIN 😭😭😭
Brillant lyrics!
I had five seconds to hope that this Cloud Cult track would be instrumental.
It seems this band could become really successful if they decided not to let the composer also sing.

Oh, and the yelps are indeed really annoying and somehow make this sound like generic hipster music.

Interesting song, lyrics are great

"God is dog spelled backwards and we just keep chasing the tail,"...love it!
This guy's voice makes me cringe.
                   Excuse my French.
Dream–Girl–With You–All–Take–Give–Child–Back
This sounds like something off of the Juno soundtrack.  That's not a good thing.

Now when I hear the overused strummed banjo melody ala Mumford & Sons (Certainly not the first but can be blamed for making it tiresome) I about jump across the room to change it.

Like nails on a chalkboard to me now.

You can say that again. Plus there's that voice trying to be a lead singer and not succeeding.
yuck

"hayseed boyscout"  good call Skydog  {#Cheesygrin}

I had to give it a 2 because the vocals are some of the worst I've ever heard, but love the rest of the band
Interesting song, lyrics are great
That yelp is annoying the crap out of me.

Agreed.  The magic of Bill!
There's something about Cloud Cult that just really works for me, like every time.
